We are a couple who are retired and holiday 7 or 8 times a year including cruises about once a year. This cruise was taken as part of my 60th birthday treats. We travelled to the ship independently and stayed in Barcelona for 1 night pre trip and 3 nights after which worked very well.
Embarkation was smooth and well organised.
I have split the review into 4 sections for clarity:
Superb The real star the Ship, spacious and comfortable. The Staff were very friendly and helful to us, all of them. The food especially the dinners in the Northern Lights. The lido and carvery all produced excellent food at lunchtime (and we did not use them in the evening.)
Good The entertainment staff with special thanks to Danny Black the singer guitarist in the Red Frog Pub. The ports of call, especially Venice. The Red Frog pub itself. Comfort in the cabin even though we had an inside. Plenty of space in the cabin and the bathroom was great.
Bad Lack of information for independant travellers. Cost of excursions.
Ugly Misinformation to independant travellers. Distance to train station said to be a mile when it was 400 yards etc.
Disembarkation (or debarking as it was called also was efficient and well organised. Our only critisism was you has to debark by 9am at the latest.
Overall a great cruise to some nice ports of call
