Awesome time on the Miracle!

Sail Date: June 2011
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

We are a family of 4...Mom, Dad and 2 teens. Second Carnival cruise.

Embarked from NYC Cruise Terminal. Took car service from central NJ (Downtown Limousine.) Reasonable price and turned out to be much less of a hassle than driving and parking in NYC. Embarkation smooth and easy. Had all documents printed so that made it even better. Friendly helpful staff. Arrived around noon and waited maybe 30 minutes for our zone to be called.

Miracle is an easy ship to get around. We had been on Pride 2 years ago and layout is the same. Clean, well-kept.

Our cabins were great. First time with a balcony...loved it! We liked location, too. Room stewards were AWESOME! Fery and Putu were so attentive and friendly. Knew our names immediately and greeted us warmly every time they saw us.

Lido food was good...always plentiful. Eating at "off times" would help with crowds.

Bacchus Dining Room food was also good, some meals bordering on great. Wait staff, More Wilmer and Clyde, were WONDERFUL! Efficient, friendly and always wanted us to be happy with our experience.

Usual activities on board during sea days...bingo, trivia, etc. We found some very talented musicians (Taylor in particular) and relaxed in the lounges and listened to the music. Music Unlimited was also one of our favorites. These guys are SO good! Real crowd pleasers and appealed to a wide range of people.

Very pleased with activities for kids. Daughter (13) made friends with 2 nice girls and was off and running every day, either with Circle C or independently. Son (15) totally enjoyed Club O2 and was never bored. There were lots of kids on the ship, but it never really seemed like it. Was pleasantly surprised.

Did not go to gym, spa or salon so I have no information to share on those services.

Cruise director, Malcolm, was funny and very personable.

The only negatives were that the temperature on the ship is COLD...too much AC in some places to where I needed a sweater! The picture taking staff was ever-present...but took "no thanks" well.

Overall, it was a great trip. Service was terrific in all lounges, Lido, shops, etc. These are hard-working people!! Tip them generously!! Less

Great location. Quiet hallway. Plenty of space.

Port and Shore Excursions

Beautiful day at the beach. Booked a horseback riding trip with Sunset Rides and Tours. This is a local outfit, not affiliated with Carnival. Was so pleased with our experience. Friendly staff, helpful guides, very personalized. So glad we looked "outside the box." Rodes horses to private spot on beach. Took swim in amazing water. Would do again in a minute! Had time to swim and shop before we got back on ship, too.

Walked around Old San Juan for about an hour before our Nightfall Canopy Tour (booked through Carnival). Zip Lining through the forest was awesome. Guides were very knowledgeable and made us feel safe.

Took cab to Magen's Bay. Did not book through ship as there are many taxis available when you get to the pier. Henry, our driver, gave us lots of information on the ride. He even stopped at a scenic spot so we could take pictures. Beach is gorgeous. Pre-arranged a return trip with Henry and he did not disappoint. Felt very safe the whole time.
