Sail Date: Jun 2011

We set off from Auck June 17th,but firstly bussed from north by P&O buses-excellent to arrive right at your boat, found our balcony cabin which was well worth the xtra and waited to sail thinking maybe music to wish us farewell like we have experienced overseas but nothing at all. Auckland is a lovely port to sail from.Would have like to have taken a mini jug for early morn tea as sometimes a real pain to walk up to food deck and balance it and bring back or pay $3 chg Auz to have 1 delivered 30 minutes later.Sadly we couldnt land at Norfolk and were told 1 in 12 lands there. Think of all the tourist dollars they miss out on with no real wharf that the tenders could bring people in.

Now we didnt take our laptop as the head office said no wireless on board and we didnt bother to get any Auzzie dollars as thought credit cards could be used locally for attractions.BUT the night before Noumea stop we had a panic as were told no credit cards at the cultural centre and aquarium so had to get Auz dollars and guess what. Free to over 65s at the cultural centre and the magic aquarium took credit card. However we were able to use the auz dollars to help pay our bill.

The trip(no2 on list) in Lifou was great to the lukon area and the vans and the road were great although the ticket said bad roads and vehicles were rust buckets. As there were 12 of us we rented an english speaking driver and van from Alpha Tours and this was magic at $36 NZ. Great trip and food and entertainment and we all enjoyed our time on board as well.Vila good for duty free as well.
