Our first-time cruise to Alaska was a wonderful experience! My wife Jackie and I flew to Seattle from Orange County on Friday and spent the night at the Hampton Inn Downtown. Our room was spacious with a nice balcony and easy walking distance to the Space Needle and monorail which we rode to downtown. We were very happy with the Hampton Inn and Shuttle Express service to/from the Airport. We were blessed with perfect weather throughout the trip which allowed me capture a bit of Alaska's beauty in photos and HD video. Having sailed on the Golden's sister ship, the Grand Princess we knew the layout, but there were some pleasant surprises - the Piazza for instance. Our balcony cabin was ideal for the two of us and our Elmer, our attendant did a superb job keeping it maintained. We purchased a coffee card and really enjoyed unlimited fresh-brewed along with the allotted specialty coffee (even got a complimentary mug). The International Cafe was so convenient for snacks and pastries. We enjoyed the production shows as we appreciate the hard work that goes into them (our daughter was singer with Princess for 3 years). The British Invasion was our favorite but all were well-performed. Daniel Oliver, the pianist/vocalist in the Promenade Bar superbly performed standards and we enjoyed his music on several occasions. We found the illusionist (of course my wife was selected from the audience - again...) quite good and the comedian's act enjoyable. The International Crew Show was a hoot if not for all ages...Both my wife and I greatly enjoyed Michael Modzelewski, the naturalist and his lectures in the Princess Theater. His personality and storytelling greatly enhanced the Alaskan experience - kudos to Princess on this choice.Except for breakfast in the Horizon Court (we generally skipped lunch), we ate dinner in the dining rooms. We love anytime dining, and each night we met wonderful couples to share meals with. We'll be keeping in touch with those we really hit it off with. The meals and service were quite good, and we heard no complaints at the tables from others. The cruise director, Kelvin Joy was highly entertaining and definitely added personality to the activities. The Golden appeared to be very well maintained and I noticed nothing needing repair or renewal in our cabin or elsewhere. In summary, this cruise was everything we hoped it would be including the weather. Here's a small collection of photos from the cruise:http://www.cig.usa.canon.com/p?p=DrGkFhScPFf

Cabin Review

Cabin was small but in excellent condition. Beds a little hard. Shower small but worked very well. Balcony in good condition. Well positioned to elevators and pretty quiet.
