We arrived in Seattle on Saturday, June 4 around 11:00 am to spend one day before our cruise. We had asked for early check-in at the Red Lion Hotel on 5th but they could not do this, therefore, we left our luggage with the bellman and proceeded to Pike Market. The weather was beautiful, 70 and sunny. It was very, very crowded at the market because of the great weather. We were extremely tired from our flight from the East Coast. We went back to the hotel around 3:00 and they couldn't find our luggage. Took about 20 minutes. They had stored everyone's luggage in 5 different rooms. Our's was in 2 separate rooms. Our room was extremely nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location of this hotel is great. Too bad the bellmen's service was so bad. We ate dinner at a little English Pub just outside of the hotel. It was very good.Next morning, again a beautiful day, we walked a few blocks to Szerac's restaurant in the Hotel Monaco for breakfast. Very, very good. Went back to the Market and just enjoyed the morning. Left for the ship approximately 12:00 noon. Took about 15 minutes. Cost was $12.50. Embarkation took a long time. Seems like those that arrived earlier didn't have the long lines. Once we got thru security, everything went quickly. This was our first time on the Sapphire. We had been upgraded to a mini-suite right before our cruise. Loved it. Great view from our balcony of the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. Have read several reviews concerning the service. We had great service wherever we were. We actually tried to avoid the buffet area. Ate breakfast a couple of times in the main dining room and also got the belgium waffles out by the pool. They were delicious. Ate all our lunches and dinners in the main dining room. Only had dinner in the buffet 1 night because our tour came in late. We had early traditional dining in the Vivaldi dining room. Great fettucini alfredo and desserts. The other food was O.K. We experienced the "Chef's Table" one night. Wow is all I can say. It was beyond expectations. Well worth the money. Didn't do any of the specialty restaurants. We had requested to have the "egg crate" put on the mattress, but didn't need it as they upgraded the mattresses and they were very comfortable. Slept like a baby. Entertainment: We didn't go to any of the Princess theatre shows. We did go and see a comedian and ventriliquist in the Explorer's Lounge. Very funny. We also watched Karoke and the "marriage game". Played bingo one time. Just enjoyed watching the beautiful scenery from our balcony
