CRUISING WITH FRIENDS OF OLD.

Sail Date: May 2011
Destination: Canary Islands
Embarkation: Southampton

We are a group of friends who have been on 5 cruises together over the same amount of years, this being the first cruise with P&O.

Compared to thomsons and royal carribean we all agreed that the meals ie,breakfast, lunch and evening meals were more enjoyable.

The prices of the wine and drinks are very reasonable, and P&O ARE NOT AS STRICT AS ROYAL CARRIBEAN ABOUT YOU BRINGING ON A BOTTLE OF WINE TO CONSUME IN YOUR CABIN.

The cabins were just about ok with plenty of storage a decent shower and decent hair dryer.

The coffee tea and biscuits are topped up by your cabin Stuart on a daily basis and your towels changed every couple of days.

We thought the entertainment was of a high standard and the on board entertainers were absolutely brilliant.

The size of the Oceana is just about right, not to big or small.

The only complaint I would have is the ship was to dock at vigo early Tuesday morning but did not dock until More 11.15.

And we were supposed to sail to madeira on the following wednesday but sailed from vigo and docked the next day.

I had arranged a tour of both of these destinations so had to go to reception and rearrange the pick up times(the private tour people were very understanding and our rearranged tours went really well and were very enjoyable.I WOULD RECCOMEND TOURSOFGALACIA IF YOU WANT TO SEE VIGO AND LIDO TOURS FOR MADERIA.

This was the first time we sailed from southampton(normally fly first)and we will allways start our cruise this way from now on its so much easier. Less

Cabin review: Oceana D602

IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP BEFORE MIDNIGHT YOU WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE ONBOARD DUO SINGING UNTIL THIS TIME EVERY NIGHT AND HOPE THE CROUD IN THE WINNERS BAR DONT JOIN IN.

Port and Shore Excursions

AGAIN THIS WAS A LAST MINUTE REARANGED VISIT BECAUSE P&O CHANGED THE DAY WE WERE IN PORT(WE REARANGED THE TOUR WITH THE TOUR OPPERATER WHILE ON THE SHIP) OUR TOUR DRIVER AND GUIDE FROM LIDO TOURS WAS BRUNO. BECAUSE OF OUR REARANGED SCHEDULE HE ASKED US IF WE WANTED TO DO THE TOUR WE BOOKED OR SOMETHING DIFFERENT,SO WE LEFT IT TO BRUNO TO SHOW US ROUND THE ISLAND. WE WENT TO SO MANY DIFFERENT PLACES AND SCENIC ROUTES IT WILL TAKE TOO MUCH TIME TO LIST THEM ALL. WHAT I WILL SAY IS IF YOU WANT TO SEE MADERIA AND THERE IS A GROUP OF 6TO8 OF YOU BOOK UP WITH LIDO TOURS AND YOU CANT GO WRONG.

WE ARRIVED 4HOURS LATE IN TO VIGO BUT OUR DRIVER FROM TOURSOFGALACIA WAITED FOR US AND GIVE US A GRATE DAY OUT VISTING THE OLD TOWN OF SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA .OUR TOUR INCLUDED LUNCH WITH LOCAL WINE AND A LOCAL TOUR GUIDE. THE 3 COURSE MEAL AND WINE WERE DELLICOUSE AND ROUNDED THE DAY OFF NICELY. OUR LOCAL TOUR GUIDE WAS A YOUNG LADY WHO WAS VERY CHEERFULL AND ANSWERD ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TOWN AND ITS HISTORY. ALL IN ALL A VERY NICE DAY.
