We were a little dubious about sailing on the Marco Polo as we had read several unfavourable reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. Embarkation was organised, straight into cabin. The cabin was compact but fine - bigger than some we have had. The entertainment was great. The food was good - not 5-star but then we didn't expect it. The staff were generally very pleasant ahd helpful. All areas were clean. As it was a smaller ship (800 passengers)there wasn't far to walk to anywhere and you were soon able to find your way around.

One problem we had was with the cabin - the engine noise was bad. By the end of the holiday we had got used to it. Best to try and book a cbin no. not be given one!

The other problem we had was the weather which the cruise line couldn't do anything about but they turned things around very quickly when we had to divert to other ports because of the stormy seas - we were in Scotland at the time!

We would certainly book on the Marco Polo again and it certainly was good value for money

Cabin review:

Cabin 309. Compact. Beds at right angles to one another. Engine noise bad. 2 port holes

Port and Shore Excursions

Had a free shuttle bus into Belfast from the port. Got on a hop-on hop-off bus which was very informative and the guy we had was very funny
