The GOOD the BAD and the UGLY

Sail Date: May 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Southampton

Nice welcome glass of "bubbly".We had a Sunset Balcony which looked over the stern so gave us a much broader picture+more sun!!

Cabin was small, and very short of storage space, but overhead lockers helped.

Tea/coffee, and bathroom with fixed shower head. Beds very comfy+nice robes.

Main Dining Room (deck4/5) very beautiful and food generally of good standard.Only problem is that it is CLOSED for LUNCH on Port-days!We had 2 excellent waiters(Chian+Koko) who really doted on us! Buffet(deck14) was very well laid out with wide"alleys" and NO trays! Quality was good, but it always seemed to be cold, which ruined the Pizza/chips especially. Very good choice of Thai,Mexican,Roast,Sushi,Curry. A quite superb Ice Cream Parlor for desserts with No Sugar/Low Cal, and frequent change of flavors. We dined In Tuscan Speciality restaurant for $30 each+$25 corkage for our own wine, as it was my birthday. Food NOT outstanding, but service the best.

Evening More entertainment was extremely disappointing, in an unglamorous theatre.

There was a good male+female singer, but show costumes were poor, and they were not a patch on P&O.

Deck 15 had superb real grass, and Croquet and putting were such fun.

"TRIVIA" quizzes were not nearly as good as P&O but Matt(Canada)+Drew(USA) were good presenters. We did not go to guest lecturers, as the subjects were rather dull...again P&O streets ahead in this I'm not biased to P&O !!! Less

Cabin review: SV8342 Sunset Veranda

Smallish with little storage space.Sunset veranda gives great views.Nice bath robes.Tea/Coffee

Port and Shore Excursions

Livorno where U must take a $8 shuttle bus as no walking inside port-area! Pisa.Firenze say no more but best is LUCCA.U take a 20min train to PISA then a 30 min train to LUCCA

Usual it or hate it!! Good for a £16 bottle 0f Grand Marnier and MORRISONS supermarkt

Take train for EURO 4 rtn to ESTORIL+CASCAIS,which I think are better!.Trams right by ship for Lisbon, but beware pickpockets. No need for expensive shuttle bus...train station ALCANTARA right by ship.

The eternal favorite in whole world. Take a Euro 10 rtn train which is an hour+3 Min's.Free shuttle to port entrance and 6 min walk to Station @Civitaveccia.

Forget Seville...very over-rated.Cadiz is so lovely and ship in town.Beware narrow streets and even with a map Navigating is tricky! Lovely promenade walk there+good swim beach

Tours To Santiago DE Compostela(over an hour away) but climb up the steep hill for fab views of the estuary+oyster pots. Very good EL Corte Inglis Dept store, about 25 min walk.Amazing atmosphere just 5 Min's from ship in the "Old Town" where U can sit outside and have wonderful seafood Al Fresco
