Norwegian Star - Mexican Riviera
A cruise is what you make it. The ship was beautiful and clean. Getting on and off was a nightmare. The food was all right, had better on other NCL cruises. The Freestyle dining was great, but the service was terrible. Took all night to get our food. No special attention like ships without Freestyle. The waiters and workers were rude. When you sit down for either meal they make you wait. You have to try to get their attention to come to your table. If you are in their way, you better move quick or they will run over you. This was our cruise 14 and I have never had workers treat us so rude. You better order all that you want and not forget anything. One morning we sat with another couple and were talking. The waiter must have asked me a question and I didn't hear him. He was very rude and almost hit me in the head with the menu. Another night when we were walking around the ship a couple of workers were blocking the walking area. We waited a few mins for them to move. More
When we asked them very nicely to excuse us, they ignored us. We had to squeeze around them. I'm very upset with the service of the waiters, workers etc., on this ship.
Now the good things about this ship. The places we visited on this ship were beautiful. Your best bet in these places in the Mexican Riviera is to explore yourself. Better to meet other people on ship to go with you. The ship's prices are very expensive. They have taxi drivers to give you a great tour for half the price.
In Acapulco, get a taxi to give you a tour, he will show you everything and keep you into night to see the cliff divers. For 2 people it's around $80.00 for 6 or more hours. They charge by the van not the people. So if you have 6 people you will pay the same price we did for 2. He will take you shopping and show you everything you want to see, including cliff divers at night. Make sure you get the tours right from the pier not on the street.
Puerto Vallarta, get a rental car and map. You follow directions you can't get lost. This is really a great experience. You go to the interesting spots all in one area. Stop off at the ocean bars and have the best drinks of your life. They even have small cliff divers that will entertain at the bars. You will see the natural waterfalls right next to you as you drive by. They also have little places to buy things on the road, cheaper than in town. Remember you can bargain with them.
Zihuatanejo, a nice little fishermen's place. Get your camera ready, when you arrive on tender the pelicans and seagulls are all over the place. They are all over the empty boats and are comical. This place is nice to just walk around and explore. The people will attack you to buy. If you're interested in what they have, bargain with them. They will take any reasonable offer. Remember what they tell you is silver is not ... only if you get it cheap no problem. I saw a couple of elderly ladies get ripped off bad. If you know jewelry you know it's not silver. So watch what you buy and for how much. The bars have very inexpensive drink specials. Check the bars around first before you buy.
Cabo San Lucas, really beautiful. Take extra film with you. Do take the glass bottom boat tour for $10.00, right when you get there. The most beautiful things I have ever seen. They have hundreds of sea lions and seagulls and Lover's Beach. The arch is priceless. The ocean so blue, just beautiful. They will also drop you off on Lover's Beach and pick you up all for the same price. After the boat tour go explore the town, very nice. Remember, almost everything you book on the ship you can book on shore for a lot cheaper. Scuba diving I really don't know, snorkeling you can do on any beach.
We had a great time on this ship and we will go again on this same ship. Hopefully NCL can do something about their rude employees. We also met a lot of nice people on this ship. Have a great cruise, hope all goes well for you. Less
