We took the same cruise on the same ship on 09 so we have some perspective on the ship and the way it is run.Let's start with the positive. The Port of SF at pier 35 is very easy to board from. Quick processing and boarding took about 15 minutes. Pier 27 will expand the capabilities but full use of that is in the future. The main dinning room food has improved to the point where we should have gotten assigned seating. We had anytime dining, which is in the Riggoletto (sp) d/r. It is not all anytime btw. You can reserve a table and time on the first night, which kind of makes the "anytime" a mute point. We took two excursions and both were excellent. Even the bus ride ($7.50 r/t) in Victoria was decent. The stateroom was neat and clean, with plenty of closet space. There were two high points in the entertainment area. An illusionist and a singer named Duncan Tuck. Getting off the ship was equally as efficent as getting on and the parking is not only close but reasonable. Now to the negative. The ship seems tired and worn. Interior handrails were loose, paint chipped, carpets needed cleaning, and all windows needed to be cleaned inside and out. Dust was evident everywhere and it looked as if the decor hadn't had a cleaning in a long time. The staff didn't seem like they really knew what they were doing but did it fast. We felt rushed at everymeal to the point where we felt they would prefer us to get out...and what is the deal with Cafe Corniche not having any tap water. You have to pay for water and the pizza quality was marginal. Security is....security so don't have ANY metal on you when you return from port visits. They will pat you down. Very insulting. This crew needs to go to English school. Many think they are speaking it, but in reality most don't seem to care as they speak their own language most of the time. The cruise director, his assistant, and staff are very much full of themselves and don't have a problem letting you know it. The Captain had just returned from some time off and has his work cut out for him bringing the ship and crew even to the level it was in 09. We have been thinking of taking Princess to Hawaii, or through the Canal, in 2012. We are not going to dismiss those trips, but this last one has giving us pause. Overall we had a good time with our relatives but weren't as anxious as before to get back on the ship.
