We sailed on the Sensation on May 26-29, 2011 out of Port Canaveral to Nassau. The weather was absolutely perfect. It had been at least 20 years since we had visited Nassau on a Disney Cruise. That was when Premier Cruise Lines was the official Disney cruise line. The Ship:The ship was smaller than those we usually prefer, but we knew that going in. We wanted a 3 day cruise with something that would keep 6 and 8 year old boys entertained. The boys loved the water slides on the back of the ship; we spent a great deal of time on the slides. I'm 66 and I had a great time on them. Our cabin was on the back of the ship and had a balcony; we've gotten spoiled and only book balcony cabins. The cabins were a decent size with plenty of closet space and a fairly roomy bathroom; only problem was that the bathroom smelt pretty bad and it wasn't our doing. My brother had a cabin a few doors down and they had the same problem. Being at the back of the ship, we could feel the motion of the ship as it moved along; not enough to get one seasick, but enough to notice. We prefer midship or forward, but we booked late and were lucky to get balcony cabins. The dining room was very nice and the food was good; lobster and prime rib on the second night. We didn't attend the show in the evening; there was only one show each night at 10:15. We went to a few of the entertainment offerings such as the trivia, men vs women, etc., and they were fun, but predictable. The miniature golf on the top front of ship was fun and the kids enjoyed that. Not many shops on board for the women to enjoy, but on a smaller ship space is limited. The ship was always clean and the crew was constantly working to keep it that way.The staff:The staff was great. Our wait staff in the dining room (Ramone and Jorge) were fantastic. They met our every need and were always courteous and welcoming. The dining room staff entertained us each evening with some type of little skit and it made the dining experience very enjoyable. The room staff did an excellent job of attending to our cabins while never getting in the way. The crew throughout the ship was wonderful.Nassau:It's not paradise, but they have cleaned it up some over the past twenty years. We just walked around, went to the Straw Market, bought some souvenoirs, and visited a local beach. Nothing exciting, but a pleasant day on shore.Embarking and Disembarking:Couldn't have been better. We boarded within 20 minutes and were able to have lunch on board. The day we left, we were off the ship and through customs within 20 minutes after they had called our number.Overall:A pleasant 3 day getaway from work. The ship was a little too small, but we knew this. My wife said "no more small ships", but Carnival did a great job on our 3 day cruise.
