My husband and I are just back from our honeymoon cruise on NCL Spirit. We had a lovely time. I'm going to break our review into Embarkation/Debarkation, Food, Entertainment, NCL Staff, Ship Cleanliness, and Stateroom.Embarkation/Debarkation:We arrived at the port at about 12:10ish. My sister drove us there and dropped us off. Our bags were tagged and taken immediately and we got through the initial document check super fast. Our next check point took a little while. We got in line and were in line for a little over an hour, but once we got through the line and had our key cards, it did not take long at all to get on the ship. They have a special line for those in suites/villas and another special line for Latitude cruisers. We were in the regular line since we had an OV cabin and it was our first cruise. We did the easy walk off option for debarkation and we could've gotten off the ship as early as 8:00 a.m., but since my sister wouldn't be arriving until between 10 and 11, we stayed on the ship until about 9:45. The initial check out point went quickly, but the path from the boat through customs seemed to take forever since we had such a long way to walk, but it was still quick.Food:We ate at Bier Garten for our first meal. They had hot dogs and burgers out and the burger was very good. We never ate at any of the specialty restaurants. We thought about it, but once we saw the menus at the Reservation Desk we were not interested. We were both very disappointed in the menu options at the specialty restaurants. We expected maybe one pizza and lasagna at the Italian restaurant, but there wasn't any. And Cagney's literally had only steak. We weren't interested in Teppanyaki, Shogun, or Le Bistro, so we were indifferent to their menu choices. I took a picture of all of the specialty restaurants' menus, and I'll create a photo album to share with you all. Our all time favorite eatery on the ship was Blue Lagoon. They had the best food and the Panini with prosciutto and mozzarella was to die for. Their spinach and artichoke dip, wonton soup, tomato soup, and turkey burger were also very good. The server was usually very good. There was only one time where it seemed like we waited over 10 minutes to get menus when at least 4 servers walked right by us, but that was only a one time thing and we ate their at least 6 times. The servers at Blue Lagoon also were very willing to fill up my husband's water bottle. I really liked Windows, but my husband wasn't since he liked the more casual restaurants. My only beef with Windows is their serving sizes. My husband ordered pancakes one morning for breakfast and he literally receiving 2 little bitty pancakes. We were expecting more. Their lobster tail (offered the first night) was very good. Overall their food was great, but I expected better portion sizes. My husband really like Raffles since it was a buffet, but I wasn't crazy about their selection. Stay away from the pasta there since it tends to be hard it places. Their breakfast is really good, though. Also, we think their biscuits and waffles are made with whole wheat flour instead of white flour, which was a nice variation.Entertainment:We loved, loved, loved Galaxy of the Stars. We sat in the lounge the first night and watched out the windows as we went down the river heading out. We attended several functions at that lounge. We saw The Second City comedy troupe perform improv. They were funny, but I expected more from them since this troupe was where Steve Carell and Tina Fey got their start. It was enjoyable none-the-less. We also attended a game show in Galaxy of the Stars with the Cruise Director as host and it was hilarious and a lot of fun! Every night there is music in every lounge area which is nice, but one night we decided to go to Henry's Pub for a drink for each of us and there was a guy playing the guitar in there. He was very good, but it was so loud that it was hurting our ears. We quickly finished our drinks, left, and went to Galaxy of the Stars where live music was also playing. The singing group that performed in Galaxy was good, but they repeated the same songs every night. The AMAR Orchestra also performed in Galaxy and they were very good. One night, I attended an acrobat performance in Stardust and it was amazing. It was a Russian husband and wife duo, but I can't remember the wife's name. The husband's name is Dmitri. On 3 nights, I attended the art auction and I was very impressed with everything -- the art selection, atmosphere, and art gallery staff. If you stay during the entire auction, whether you buy anything or not, you get a free piece of artwork (nothing expensive), so I ended up coming home with 3. They also do a raffle during each auction and I ended winning another piece of artwork. You get to choose out of three and we chose a landscape by Marko Mavrovich. The last night I ended up buying a lithograph by Anatoly Metlan. The art staff was excellent in helping me find a piece of artwork that I loved, that was within our price range.NCL Staff:I cannot say enough about the staff on board the ship. We had 3 stewards and they were excellent. They were very prompt about getting our room cleaned and they did it at the same time every day, so it was easy to plan something away from the room so they could clean it. Oh and when they knock on the door, even if you say hang on, they may not hear you and end up opening the door anyway. We found the "Do not disturb" thing and put it in the door since they almost walked in on one of us naked . After that we made sure to put that little sign on the door. All of the staff at the restaurants we ate at were very nice. The lounge staff are annoying at times! Our only con about Galaxy of the Stars is that the staff come to you like every 2 minutes asking if you want a drink. It got annoying after a short time, but we dealt with it. Anytime you are in a lounge, expect a staff member to ask if you want an alcoholic drink, and often.Ship in General:The ship was in tip top shape. During ports, they would do repairs on the Promenade, so sometimes parts of it would be blocked off, but they have to fit in repairs at some point! We did not see any wear throughout the ship, and I looked for it! There have been some reports of mildew in the shower, but we never had any. If anyone is worried about germs, don't be. At every entrance and doorway there is a hand sanitizer station and they have a staff member outside Raffles to spray hand sanitizer in your hands since it is a buffet.Cabin:We had an OV stateroom located on the Port side, Midship, Deck 8. It was actually surprisingly roomy! Even with the little sofa, desk with chair, and queen bed, we had plenty of room to move around. We stored our luggage under the bed, and we had plenty of hangers for our clothes. My husband took the shelves in the closet for his stuff and I took the dresser. There was also plenty of storage for our essentials in the bathroom. The TV channels are definitely limited. My husband didn't realize MSNBC was offered since the channel is blocked for some reason. If you input the channel number with the remote it will go to it, but just using the up and down buttons on the remote or TV skips the channel. The first channel gives you the channel list, so I recommend viewing that and writing down any channels that interest you and go from there.Summary:We had a wonderful time on the cruise and are already planning on cruising again within the next few years. Our only recommendations for NCL (and we will put this in the online survey) is that they have a designated water station because it was a pain to constantly have to get our water bottles filled at Blue Lagoon and that they have togo coffee cups with lids. Sometimes we wanted to get coffee and then go back to our cabin, but it was impossible with the little glass cups since we both drink more than one cup. We got room service one morning and the little coffee pitcher only fit 2 cups of coffee, so it would've been nice if we could just go into one of the restaurants and get togo coffees. But other than that, we had no problems with anything.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Picture Window

Cabin OA

Huge oceanview window! Walls are very thin so you can hear people in the next room, but it wasn't too bad. Even with a desk, chair, sofa, and queen bed, my husband and I had plenty of room to move around. The bathroom is a little small, but it was laid out to be perfectly efficient. There is only a 4 drawer dresser, but the closet has shelving on one side from top to bottom that adds a lot of extra storage. The closet is surprisingly roomy.
