Great Panama Canal cruise on Celebrity Infinity

Sail Date: April 2011
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was our first Celebrity experience, and our first time thru Panama Canal. I want to highlight how impressed we were with the cleanliness of the ship, and how the staff reminded cruisers...gently, to keep hands clean. They greeted you with smile, great eye contact and offer of hand sanitizer....as well as having the automatic ones available everywhere. What a great way to keep the ship and crew. cruisers safe.

The food was excellent, and the executive chef very available.....they put on many programs which were fun and educational. Tour of ships galley, several cooking demos and competitions were great fun.

The entertainment shows were exceptional....only one was less than excellent! In addition, they had full schedule of things to do for all sea days. It was had to find time for R/R with all the things to do.

Highlight for us was the day spent in the Panama Canal, and the educational ongoing information as we went thru the canal. We also loved More Cabo.

We were very impressed with the availability and visibility of the ships officers.....very customer focused and great models for the rest of the crew. Examples of this....the executive chef carrying food trays for some of the passengers (not just having someone else carry them); ships officers eating in buffet with rest of cruisers...when one of the waiters asked one which island we were passing...as one of his guests had asked him; the officer stopped his meal to call and verify we were passing Cuba....waiter went back to guest to give them correct answer.

All in all, great cruise....only negatives was the amount of focus on buying items on deck 5 emporium. But, as no overhead pages.....it was not difficult to find another deck to pass thru and miss the enticing raffles, sales.

Will definately travel with Celebrity, and recommend it to others....not sure about family travel; but definately for couples and groups without children. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Infinity Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda Penthouse Deck (6) 7068

Infinity is due for refurbishment this fall.....the cabin was comfortable, but did have some wear and tear. There was adequate storage, suitcases fit easily under the bed. Had small couch, table and chair...as well as bed with two bedside tables. The shower, bathroom was small but good storage. The veranda had two chairs, one table and was very good place to sit and enjoy the view. Our room was very quiet, and we did not feel the ships movement in extremes. We were above the main entertainment theater...and below the Aqua spa, fitness and indoor pool, Aqua cafe; and the observation deck/nightclub. It was great location for us....the only main room we had to go to at other end of ship was the main dining room, and that was just once a day.

Port and Shore Excursions

Took city tour, most time spent in bus....was a bit too touristy, long lines at the stops. We did enjoy the cliff divers, and the dancers which put on program just for our group....also had time to shop in jewerly stores.

Love Cabo......easy walk down marina to town. We did not do shore excursion here, as we have been here before....great day, beautiful weather. Lots of choices for water activities, for those that wanted to be active,

We did city tour, had very good guide...shared political and cultural info with us during the tour. We walked thru old walled city.....he helped guide us thru shopping.

Took train, bus and boat trip....enjoyed seeing the animals, birds and beautiful flowers. They also had delicious fruit and music provided.

Didn't take shore excursion...have been here many times. We enjoyed walking from ship downtown, having clam chowder at Anthony's right next to ship.
