Sailed out of NYC--VIP status---we were the first ones to step onto the ship.
Got the wine package--a very good deal if you like wine and headed up to the Lido for lunch.Weather was a bit rainy at the beginning, not a surprise in April.
SHIP: having been on the Glory last year I must say I preferred the Miracle.
No crowds anywhere, easy to get a seat in the clubs & lounges,no stampede at Dinnertime.A small amount of kids & teens might have played a factor here.
Ship is well maintained for a 7 year old vessel. If you really looked you could find some wear n'tear in some spots, but nothing major.
All in all a beautiful ship, easy to navigate.Nice decor tho' some may find the naked cherubs a bit much.
CABIN:booked an interior w/french doors, upgraded to aft balcony, then to Ocean Suite.I did this over 6 months,so the cost was gradual.
The suite was a plus traveling w/DD,since it had a separate dressing room w/extra closets and the outlet to charge her ever present i pod.The bathroom also had double sinks, which kept her 10 bottles of hair stuff on her side!
This room had a large balcony with a lounger and 2 chairs and I spent a part of almost every day there reading and listing to music as the waves rolled by...definitely the most peaceful part of the trip.
SERVICE:was very good in all areas of the ship.Lido deck,MDR,bartenders,Casino, shops, all staffed by friendly people ready to help with any question. They really made the trip a great experience.
MDR waiter Ricky $ ass't Sudi were the best.Cabin Steward Joel was great.
FOOD:Very good to Excellent, had something different everyday except breakfast--I prefer bacon and eggs, fruit and cereal. No bacon police this trip.
MDR menu always had a nice variety, desserts too,no complaints on the food.
ENTERTAINMENT:from the casual performers,to the show band,to the dancers,to the comedians ( Just Judy was hilarious )to the ass't CD's---entertainment staff were just great.Went to all the shows in the Phantom Lounge--jazz band in Jeeves lounge was terrific--had fun with Trivia,Game Show Mania,Adult Bean Bag Toss (more fun than I thought it would be),got into the finals at the slots tournament.DD did Samba lessons, games,Minute to Win it,etc and made a bunch of new friends.
Live music everyday, something to do almost every hour, means you won't be bored unless you want to be.
Heard Malcolm a lot more than we saw him.
PORTS:Puerto Rico---toured El Moro and Old San Juan on foot--loved it.Will return in the future to see more of the Island.Casino in Sheraton VERY small & a bit dingy.
St.Thomas---have been here before---still as lovely as I remember it.Enjoyed the great views from Paradise Point.
Grand Turk---not a lot to see except for turquoise water, palm trees, blue skies with cotton candy clouds.I could have stayed there for days just looking out on the beach and ocean.DD got a massage on the beach---much cheaper than on the ship ( thanks for the tip CC! )
I would do this trip again in a heartbeat.I believe DD has the bug now---she wants to go with her boyfriend next year!
