Wonderful First Cruise

Sail Date: May 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

We had a wonderful time. Food and service in the main dining room was fantastic, our cabin was superb and extremely quiet and convenient. Our sons had and interior cabin (6225) across from us that they enjoyed as well (although they preferred our balcony room!). Our only complaint about the room is that the bed was two twins hooked together with an irritating gap in the middle (covered by an egg crate foam - but still very noticeable). We realize this is pretty normal, but it would be nice if they could put a full mattress on there. The beds themselves are very comfortable otherwise.

Windjammer food was better than we expected - being that it is mass produced :)

The entertainment was also quite good, and our cruise director was hilarious!

Our sons participated in many of the teen activities and had a great time - although being that it was not during a school holiday the number of teens was low (we expected this - certainly not the cruise line's More fault).

We will absolutely sail RCI again, and were impressed by the service and quality we experienced throughout our entire voyage. Less

Cabin review: Freedom of the Seas Superior Oceanview Stateroo, Deck 7 6224

6224: Quiet (never heard ANY outside noises from around us), convenient, great view and nice balcony, no problems at all - would book this room again 6225: Quiet and convenient

Port and Shore Excursions

We actually didn't even set foot on land in Cozumel itself - only the dock. We immediately boarded a ferry to the mainland. We went on the Tulum + Beach Break excursion through the ship. We were almost the last back to the boat that evening - so if you're going to the mainland - you may want to seriously consider going with RCI to avoid being left behind. Tulum itself was amazing. The resort they took us to for lunch and time on the beach was absolutely picture-postcard perfect and not crowded in the least. Lunch was the best lunch we had all week - very fresh and authentic Mexican food.... We did spend a lot of time traveling (about 90 minutes each way between the ferry and the bus), but if the ruins are something that interests you - it's worth it.

Falmouth itself is still being worked on, but the areas that are complete look very nice. I think, quite soon, it will be a lovely port. We took a ship's excursion to Dunns Falls, and to ride horses in the ocean and through a plantation (this also included lunch). The horseback riding was fun - but compared to the falls.... Well - let's just say there is a reason Dunns Falls is so popular! We had a blast.

We truly wish we had more time here. I researched snorkeling sites before the trip, and we disembarked with our arms full of gear. Snorkeled the wreck of the Gamma and Cheeseburger Reef - fantastic! I could have snorkeled/Scuba'd a week there....
