The good.... Ship was beautifully appointed and wonderfully decorated. Lots of beautiful tile throughout the ship. Service was A+ throughout the cruise. Spa and gym were wonderful areas, both nice and spacious and state of the art. Room was a nice standard interior stateroom on deck 11, it was a spa stateroom which meant you got unlimited use of the thermal suite and that was a nice plus...very relaxing thalasso pool and several steam rooms and warm tile chairs. Room was what I expected from a cruise ship. Entertainment was very good from comedians to shows put on in theatre. Better than I expected but availability of shows was tough if you picked the later dining option which I had done. Maybe later start times for shows would be a good idea . Some dinners were excellent(some!) and dinner for $30 at chefs art steakhouse was worth it and I don't even eat steak! Also have to give props to carnival for their warm melting chocolate cake for dessert...best dessert I have ever had on a cruise ship bar none! The okay to not so good to very disappointing...I will start with the biggest disappointment...the food. Particularly the breakfast buffet and lunch options. Hardly any selection for breakfast to begin with and what was available was quite frankly not very tasty at all. Long lines for breakfast everyday and really annoyed they hand out the bacon....come on carnival don't be so cheap!!! As for lunch the pasta bar upstairs in the buffet area was decent and so was the burrito bar. But the general buffet was very limited and again not tasty. Pizza was not good at all and grill with burgers and chicken sandwiches not good either but I don't eat burgers so I can't really comment on them. Also times for breakfast and lunch were very limited so if you slept late or did an excursion you may have missed them altogether. However dinners were good to very good for the most part in the dining room and service was very good but a tad slow. Another disappointment was the lack of extra pools for a ship that size with over 3000 guests. There were only 2 pools and always very crowded. The water slides were fun though and sometimes the line for them wasn't so bad. Lots of hot tubs on the ship if that's your thing though. Cruise director Butch was very energetic but was M.I.A. a lot of the time. Found that odd. The layout of the ship was easy to figure out but quite quirky in several areas. Sometimes you needed to go up or down one level to get to where you needed to go because access was blocked. That was annoying a little bit. Lastly I have to say the large screen TV theatre on the lido deck was wonderful BUT hello carnival get a clue....show different movies instead of the same ones back to back. And also please show other movies besides animated or kids movies. It was basically unwatchable if you were an adult. Also with the late dining option you couldn't watch either showing in their entirety. This should be planned better by carnival.Overall I had a very enjoyable time on the carnival dream and enjoyed all 3 of my excursions. Weather was excellent which helps! However I would not opt to repeat a cruise on the dream again and will probably shy away from carnival and stick to other cruise lines.
