Carnival Liberty - Western Caribbean

Sail Date: April 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

My boyfriend and I (we got engaged while on the cruise on my birthday, so he's my "fiance" now! ) took our first cruise in April 2011. We had the best vacation ever. The rooms were clean there was plenty of storage, and we had everything we needed. Juan (our stateroom steward) did a great job taking care of us during our voyage. There was always something to do on the ship, we were never bored. We played Bingo, tried our luck in the casino (that didn't go very well, but it was fun), hung out at the pool and listened to the band play and danced the night away in the casino lounge. Santan was always there to get us drinks or anything else we needed at the moment. The food was excellent and there were plenty of options to choose from.

We can't wait to plan our next cruise with Carnival, it truly was the best vacation we have ever had, and we've been on several different vacations. We're getting married next year in June, so maybe a honeymoon cruise is in our future !! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Liberty Balcony Lido 9218

We had a balcony cabin on the Lido deck (9th floor). It was a great location, since the buffet and the pool deck were on the same level. Carnival did a great job of keeping the noise level out of the cabin areas. We never heard any noise, and slept very peacefully. The room was much bigger than we had expected, and we had plenty of space to store our things. The bathroom and shower were good size, and we didn't feel like we were crammed into a small space. The view off the balcony was breathtaking. My fiance proposed on the balcony just as the sun was setting and glistening on the beautiful blue waters....it was PERFECT!!!!

Port and Shore Excursions

(5.5)
Our ports of call were in Cozumel, Jamaica and Grand Cayman Islands. We had already planned 2 excursions with Carnival before we left. The 4 x 4 Jeep and Cavern excursion in Mexico was awesome!! Roberto and Julio were very professional, and also kept us laughing during our adventure!!

We went on a Sting Ray Safari and Snorkeling excursion in Grand Cayman. It was so amazing to swim around with 4-5 ft long Sting Rays!!!! We were able to hold them, kiss them, and one of the guides made one of them massage my back!!! If you happen to go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Grand Caymans, ask for Chelsea....she was our waitress and she was awesome!!

We didn't plan an excursion in Jamaica, so we decided to just walk around and find a private beach. When you port in Jamaica, go to the left of the pier and look for the private gated beach at the end of the pier. Ask for Charlie....you have to pay $5 per person to get in the beach, but it is WELL worth it, and Charlie will take very good care of you. He brought us drinks, Jerk chicken from the hillside (he actually walked outside of the beach area to bring it to us), and he walked to get bracelets made for us. Charlie made our day in Jamaica very relaxing and pleasant.
