my vacation started great. flew to orlando the day before the cruise first class on american airlines and checked into our hotel (la quinta inn airport north). sunday morning we woke up and our limo took us to the port. we went through security very quickly sat for an hour to wait to check in. we checked in quickly and then were seated. we were in group 1 to board. we were on board by 11:30am...very quick and smooth.
the ship was very beautiful and clean. our cabin was a decent size however the closet space was very limited. it was only my mom and i in the room, i dont know how a family of 4 could manage with such little space. carnival has much more closed and drawer space and the rooms are slightly larger on carnival, however the balcony was great. coco cay was nice we did a bit of shopping but other than that i didnt care too much for it. we had a nice day at sea then went to st.thomas and did a bit of shopping. st.martin was beautiful and we took a cab to maho beach (airport beach) if you love airplanes this is a must see beach. it was amazing with all the airplanes flying in so low.
dinner was ok. i was really disappointed though that they dont entertain you as they would on carnival. the desserts weren't great and the food wasn't that good either. another disappointment was the fact that there were no juice/water machines out by the pool area. to get an oj, lemonade or juice you had to go into the windjammer. they had soda machines by the pool but they hardly worked. our stateroom attendant never introduced herself. our waiter in the dining room was good but the assitant waiter sucked. our water glasses were only filled twice each night during dinner and the last night of dinner our glasses sat emptied for almost 20 minutes, then we saw her refill everybody elses glass but skipped us...very irrating but she finally came back.
the shows weren't that good. i prefer the shows on carnival. there were no comedians (adult comedians like they have on carnival) they start the shows late and the parades...1st night started at 11pm which most kids are usually in bed or people are tired from traveling all day and the last night was at 545pm which isn't fair to those with the early seating considering they are getting ready for dinner
disembarking was SLOW!! i have sailed in and out of port canaveral many times and it has never been this bad. i understand that things can get backed up in customs but it took us an extra 2 hours to get off the ship...thankfully our flight didnt leave until 2:20pm.
overall the ship was beautiful but the service could have been better. will i sail with royal caribbean again? its safe for me to say NO! im glad i tried another cruise line but i'll stick to carnival where the service and entertainment is 100 times better and the food is actually better. you get more bang for your buck. this cruise wasn't worth the $2400 i spent.
