We were concerned about all we had read about buckets of water to catch drips, and crazy Spring Breakers passed out in the hallways and creating havock for all of the travelers. Our experience was wonderful! We flew into Miami 2 days early and stayed downtown at the Intercontinental Miami. What a treat. The staff were so kind and it was a superior experience. I recommend it highly. We spent the day prior to the cruise at Bayside, which was a fun touristy area of downtown Miami. Had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and highly recomment the Thriller Speed Boat ride (was the highlight of Miami for me). Try to schedule your ride near sunset, amazing! We checked into our cabin, a mini-suite mid ship (11588). Having only cruised once before, we had never experienced the balcony and larger bathroom- we will never cruise without a mini suite at the minimum. Totally worth the minimal price upgrade from balcony. Our ship was due for upgrading in a few months, and I am sure that is for the tv! It was a uber-tiny old fashioned tv. Our balcony was bigger than the standard, and was well worth the room, as we really enjoyed the space. Relaxing trip. Our cabin stewards (Putu and Allan) were superb. They helped with everything we needed and went well beyond the call of duty.We only ate in the Aqua dining room one time, and the Italian restaurant once. I did not feel the Italian was worth the extra money, and I regret not making it to Cagneys. Our waiter in Aqua was wonderful. The food was incredible. My DH couldnt stop talking about their bread pudding..lol Otherwise, we mostly ate up on Deck 12, which was fine. Had fresh omlettes every morning, and there were more than enough choices to please everyone. I enjoy the freestyle cruising much more than the regimented options. I am on vacation. I do not want to dress up for dinner every night, and I dont like having to go at a certain time. BRILLIANT alternative NCL.
