This was a perfect family vacation. We are a family of five, with three kids, 10, 8, and 4. We arrived around noon in NYC and were on the ship sipping drinks by 1:30. Excellent crowd control at the pier. First night at sea was rough due to the weather, but we awoke to perfect sunshine and warmth. We had 2 adjoining staterooms, oceanview, deck 5, midship. Was perfect for the family.Day 1 at sea: rough due to weather. Many people throwing up. NCL staff were very quick to get the ship cleaned and elimate the smell. Top notch staff.Day 2 at sea: Great day to hang out at the pool. They only had 1 pool open that day, but plenty of room for everyone. Kids checked out the kids club. 10 year old loved it. 8 year old not so much. But so many other things to do on the ship. Con of this day--the passengers that go to the pool deck at 7AM, put 1 flip flop on a lounge chair to "claim" it, and return around 2:00 to actually use it. If you're one of these people, don't be--it's a horrible trait. Even my 10 year old who doesn't have an ounce of etiquette in him wondered what was wrong with some of these people.Day 3 in florida: We did the Airboat Adventure Excursion. it was a bit pricey through the boat, but I didn't want to think about transfers, etc. Glad we did, as there is not much around Port Canaveral where the boat docks. You definitely need to plan something ahead for this day. If you don't, and try to wing it--cabs are NOT regulated here. So negotiate your price up front.Kids loved it. Best of all, it was only about 3 hours. So while all the other families were on the 8+ hour Universal Studio excursion where they stood in line for hours to get on 2-3 rides (it was school vacation week), we returned to the boat after our 3 hour excursion and had full run of the pool deck, with both pools open, the water slide running, the rock climbing wall with no lines. It was awesome.Day 4 at private island: Pushy passengers to get on the tender boats are brutal. Nevertheless, even with a full ship during school vacation, we were able to get lounge chairs and had a great day snorkeling. We brought our own snorkel gear, and found out that floatation vests are mandatory. We rented them for $5--not bad. Also, didn't look like this rule was enforced, but glad I had one on when I hit a major drop off! When you get to the island, don't go to the crowded main area and look for a chair--go to the far RIGHT. There was plenty of room, and we got on the 4th tender of the day and still managed to find 5 lounge chairs together in the shade. We took only 3, because we're not those pushy flip-flop chair hogging families, and most of our time was spent in the water. On the return, people were lining up and waiting and waiting to get on a return tender. NCL isn't leaving you on their private island. So, don't bother lining up to wait. Wait on the beach, wait in the water, wait with a drink in your hand! We causally walked over at the end of the day and breezed right on the last tender--no lines. I swear people spend more time just waiting in lines to make sure they get things and get places first. NCL never ran out of anything. If you're afraid you're not going to get a lounge chair--bring one or bring a big beach blanket. I'd rather take the extra 5 minutes to pack a chair, than the extra hour+ waiting in line to get one.Day 5 in Nassau: We did blue lagoon dolphin encounter booked through vacation outlet. Saved us a few hundred off the NCL excursion price. Getting a cab to the pier was a breeze ($4 pp and kids got to drive on the wrong side of the road!), and we were in the water with the dolphins before the NCL excursion passengers even hit the blue lagoon private island. Bring towels and beach stuff because blue lagoon has an awesome private beach with inflatable water toys that you can use for the rest of the day. On the ferry back to the mainland, they stopped first at the public pier (where we had taken a taxi to to get on), then said they were going to the cruise terminals next (for all the passengers who booked through NCL). so, we just stayed on the ferry and were brought right back to the ship. Piece of cake. Well worth every penny. Dolphins were amazing.Days 6 and 7 at sea: Plenty of fun activities planned on board.NCL staff and ship were awesome. Truly no complaints with NCL.Now for the complaints--sadly, it was the other passengers. I actually had a woman almost knock over my 4 year old to get a hot dog at the UNLIMITED ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet. Seriously? There's no shortage of food here. You needn't knock over small children to immediately get a hot dog. Chair hogs--it's brutal. but still, even with a full ship on school vacation week, the boat never seemed that crowded. NCL has plenty of amenities for all, so no need to rush around hogging and claiming. Then there were the complainers (who I believe are also the rushers and the hoggers). I saw many passengers getting unnecessarily "crabby" with staff, and many were downright rude. I have pretty high expectations for service when traveling, and I thought NCL did a wonderful job. I think some people are just not happy people.Food--in the "free" areas was OK. Good variety, decent quality. Breakfast and lunch in the buffet were good (omelet stations, etc.). Dinner was acceptable. I would have preferred to eat more in the specialty restaurants, but couldn't get my kids out of the buffet. Always healthy options available--plenty of fresh fruit at all times. Steamed veggies with lunch and dinner. We did get to Orchid Garden for some "Asian Fusion," and it was delightful. Even my kids liked it. Many cool apps and dishes to try, and they'll bring you whatever you want from the menu for $10 pp, 1/2 price for kids under 12. Well worth it.Getting off the boat. We woke up in NYC. We were able to carry all our own luggage so we did easy walk off option. We literally walked off the boat and was at Penn Station in 20 minutes.

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Picture Window

Cabin O1

We were in adjoining 5576 and 5578. Both with picture windows. Perfect location, deck 5 mid ship. Day 1 at sea was rough, and low/center of boat is much less sea-sickening. On/off for excursions is on deck 4, so we never had to wait with the masses. Nice to have 2 bathrooms with a family of 5! Beds were very comfortable. Rooms good size for a ship.
