Ship Facts: Explorer of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Explorer of the Seas Deck Plans
Will Never Sail During Spring Break Again
Embarkation - So Quick and Easy - Live in Bayonne - Took a 10 minute cab ride to terminal - Through the lines quickly and enjoyed a leisurely lunch at windjammer.

Room - Inside cabin is fine with us. We hardy spend any time in our room, but felt very comfortable with the accommodations while there.

Dining - We requested table for 2 when making our reservations, but found ourselves seated with 6 other strangers. Was told at courtesy desk that a request in only that, and not a certainty. By 2nd day we were seated at a table for two. We had the best Waiter (Jo) and best Asst Waiter (Zorain). Main Dining Room food is fine. Windjammer food was great.

Problems Encountered - I have read many Cruise Critic Reviews complaining that there were too many old people on the ship. Well old people do not jump on elevators and hit the buttons for every floor and then jump off. Old people do not wait until you take a few steps towards an elevator, and then press the close door button, and point and laugh at you as the door closes. Old people do not steal your Do Not Disturb sign from out of your door 3 TIMES, causing staff to knock, when we were still asleep. Old people do not sit on the floor in many areas of the ship, causing everyone to have to walk around them, or trip over them. Old people do not reach over your shoulder to tickle the person in front of you on the elevator.

Bahamas - Atlantis Hotel - Paradise Island - 11 years ago we won a trip to the Atlantis Hotel and never thought we would get to see it again (expensive). The reason we took this cruise was because of the 1 day stop in the Bahamas. When inquiring at the excursion desk how far away was the Atlantis from where the ship docked, we were told that all excursions were booked. We asked how much a taxi would charge, and were told that a taxi would not take us there, because Atlantis was full. Thank God we didn't listen to her. We were ready to go back to our room and cry, but decided to try to find a taxi to take us there. We got off the ship and found taxi's and ferry's ready to take us to Paradise Island.

We totally enjoyed our few hours in Paradise.

Summary - Not all kids on board caused problems. Many were courteous. But unfortunately it just takes a few bad apples to spoil a cruise. We will leave Spring Break to the young, and never again cruise during this time.
