First of all, we did enjoy our cruise on the Serenade of the Seas. It is much better to go with a group. So if you know people that want to go, we suggest that you go together. This was our first time on Royal Carribean. Much better than Carnival and NCL. We did feel that the ship needed some improvements. While overall the ship is clean, it is not spotless. The carpet looked like it was in need of a cleaning There were areas that were worn also. We walked the walking track and there were areas that were quite worn. Our room was at the very back of the ship. Quite a nice view, I might add. There is a glass railing which gives you a nice unobstructed view also. However at the beginning of each cruise, it would be nice if they cleaned the glass railing. Obviously, the water would splash up but it would give a much cleaner perception to have it clean in the very beginning. Just a suggestion, I'm not really that picky! As far as the excursions, we enjoyed the ones we picked but we wanted to warn future cruisers about one of them. It was on the island of St John, Antigua. We took the 4x4 Jeep Island Safari. It was not actually a 'safari'. We went off road about 15 minutes and our driver, Dale, pointed out plants (papayas, plantains, bay leaf, sugarcane). The only animals we saw were dogs, chickens and cows. It mentioned about going through a rain forest, he pointed to it but we did not actually go through it. We stopped at a bar at the beach where peddlers bugged us to buy things. They could have been Dale's friends, not sure. This excursion was $60 a person and not worth the trip. 4x4 Jeep held 8 people and had clouds of exhaust fumes (burning oil) that gave us a headache.Magen's Bay on St Thomas was nice if you want to lay in the sand and sun. Beautiful beach. It was a bit of a drive to get there but the driver allowed 2 hours once at the beach. The drive to the beach was scenic and he allowed for some short stops. We went to see the Pitons (Pee-tons) in St Lucia on the Coastal Cruise to the Pitons. Very nice! We would recommend this excursion. It was well organized, informative and they even served pop, jungle juice, small sandwiches and fruit. You could purchase T-shirts and a music CD that they played. Our last excursion was the Glass Bottom Boat in Grenada. This excursion was cancelled due to rain. The early group said that there wasn't many fish to see but didn't know if the weather had anything to do with it. They said it wasn't worth the $44 price tag.The entertainment on the ship was poor in our opinion. It was not any kind of "Vegas" style shows as our previous trip on Carnival was. The first night was a comedian who was awful. There was also a Broadway/Movie show which was "just okay". Then there was a one man pirate kind of show who lacked the desire to be funny. We left early that night. So all in all, we had to find our own fun, which we did as if you relied on the entertainment, you would be disappointed. Food was good. The staff very friendly and helpful. Royal Carribean is a step up from NCL and Carnival, definately!

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Great view with a great balcony! We were at the back of the ship on an end cabin and our balcony was quite roomy. The bathroom did have a sewage odor in it which we noticed was worse at the end of the trip. We came prepared because we read about this prior to going on the cruise.
