The three of us (all expereinced cruise people) took the Carnival Destiny cruise on April 8th from Miami for 5 days. We all felt disappointed in the overall quality of the food, activities, and general stature of the Destiny. We had shared a cabin for a girls vacation away from the husbands and boyfriends and expected a better time than we got.Regarding the ship it is dated with old furniture throughout and a musty smell together with a smoke filled casino. Air scrubbers could fix this problem easily but it appears Carnival did not want to invest in this repair. The internet cafe was not working for the bulk of the trip and retained a smoke smell when you walked through it.The food in the buffet lines was really a "Golden Corral" type affair along with a cast of characters from there also. Instead of all you can eat it should be called all you can stack on a plate. We realize the cruise line does not control who purchases a cabin but they could have filmed My Name is Earl on this cruise very easily. The food was the same everyday with long lines for breakfast and lunch and felt like the movie Groundhog Day. Dinner in the dining room was slightly better but a low cost menu was obvious to all. We had Lobster one night with shrimp which was ok but the rest was inexpensive dishes that disappointed. We were also rushed at all meals to get in and get out. Servers seemed overwhelmed or generally confused. The shipboard entertainment was poor and we recommend you avoid it. The pools are way to small for the size of the ship with overcrowded lines at the pool buffet. You will have to be prepared to wait a long time for a slice of pizza or hot dogs and fries. There was limited entertainment in the lounge, the same 3 piece group moved from outside to inside with the same songs. We had attempted to go to the spa but other people we met suggested it was as poor as the rest of the ship in quality and the like. The health club was very light on dated equipment or rather lack of, so we stuck to the waling track. There was no climbing wall or other activities so your exercise is just walk around the ship. We actually got more exercise in port doing shopping. The port times were too short and could have been expanded seeing we had so much at sea time. Another 2 hrs in each port would have been more acceptable. This is an old ship with old furniture, a smell about it and very low quality food and entertainment. We will not travel on Carnival again and is definitely a poor value for your money.

Cabin Review

Old look, smelly ship overall, lock on balcony door was just a hasp with holes from being replaced all around it. Carnival could have a locking handle like other cruise lines. No flat screen TV or refrigerator, tiny ice bucket which you had to call to get refilled
