This was our 4th cruise, but first with Princess. The 1st two were with RCI and the 3rd with NCL. It was chosen primarily for the itinerary, and the travel agency. The big advantage to that is that we got a direct flight from Toronto to San Juan. The flight left Toronto fairly early Sun. morning so we booked a room near the airport for Sat. night. This way we could leave the car there and be to the airport without getting up at an ungodly hour. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the terminal.

We pre-cleared US immigration in Toronto, so once in San Juan we proceeded immediately to baggage claim. Before we even got to that area there was a travel agency rep waiting to greet us and check our names on the list. He then directed us to the baggage area. Very impressive I thought. We waited and waited for our luggage, and finally it appeared. We were then taken to the shuttle bus and soon headed off to the pier. This was our 2nd cruise out of San Juan, but this was a different cruise terminal. There were two ships here, ours and Adventure of the Seas. Carnival's ship was over at the other terminal where we embarked the Monarch of the Seas back in '98.

Embarkation -- Embarkation was very efficient. They had lines for the different decks, and everything was ready for us. I had done everything online beforehand. While I was filling the forms online I had encountered a problem, but a quick call to Princess got it sorted out. We were in our room in a very short time. Total elapsed time from leaving the San Juan airport, to being in our room was about 45 minutes.
