Pride of AmericaArrived in Honolulu and stayed a few days in a condo in Waikiki. Depending on your location, it can be noisy there at night, with lots of sirens. We checked into the ship at 5 p.m. and check-in went smoothly. The luggage arrived at our room promptly. There was music playing by the pool area, and we were bid farewell by a double rainbow. We ate a great buffet at the Aloha Cafe. There were many food choices, something for everyone. Sunday we were in Maui, rented a car and did the road to Hana, made it all the way around. A wonderful but exhausting day. We arrived back at the ship at 6 or 7:00 p.m. and ate at the Liberty Restaurant. The food was ok, but small portions and the service was not great. Monday, we went to Lahaina by rental car and booked an afternoon whale watching tour with the Pacific Whale Watching Foundation. We saw whales and spinner dolphins, and wandered around Lahaina for the rest of the day. That night we ate at the Skyline Restaurant. The food was poor, service just ok. We will be sticking to the buffets from now on. We did not opt to go to any of the specialty restaurants. Tuesday we arrived at Hilo on the Big Island. We went to Volcano National Park via rental car and also to Akaka Falls, which was delightful. We hit the Happy Hour from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Aloha Cafe bar, where we had $3.98 Mai Tais and $4.98 Sangrias. They were great. This was our pattern for the rest of the trip, as we enjoyed the drinks and also the food that was served there. The service was also great. We enjoyed a lot of the entertainment on ship, especially Toby Beau, who did a musical revue of the Eagles and other oldies.Wednesday we arrived at Kona on the other side of the Big Island. This was a tender day, which is the best day for you to book an NCL tour if you are going to do so. We did book one this day, the Body Glove snorkeling. The lunch was good, the service on the boat was just ok, and the snorkeling was mediocre. We did see some humpback whales and spinner dolphins on the way to the snorkeling spot. After eating at the Aloha Cafe and having our Happy Hour drinks, we went to see Oh What a Night Tribute, which was a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It was very good. Thursday we went to Kauai, rented a car, and went to the Waimea Canyon, which was just gorgeous. This was by far our favorite island. We drove up to Kee Beach to the north, and the views were just spectacular. Before the day ended we went to Wailea Falls. We ended a beautiful day with Toby Beau singing rock and roll, as we sipped Mai Tais. Friday we were still in Kauai. Since the ship left at 2:00 p.m., it was a great day for a flight seeing tour with Wings over Kauai, which is a short shuttle ride away from the ship (can also be walked). We highly recommend this experience, as you see sights you can only see from the air, and also the people we dealt with there were wonderful, with the pilot being very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. The ship departed early enough to cruise the Napali Coast during daylight hours for our pleasure. It is one of the most gorgeous views imaginable. We ended the night with Mai Tais and a variety show with all the entertainers of the week present. It was very enjoyable. Saturday we disembarked before 9:00 a.m., enjoying the Aloha Cafe breakfast as we did each morning of the cruise. The breakfast there is excellent, with many food choices. Disembarkation went very smoothly. We took an NCL tour of the USS Arizona/Missouri with a hotel drop-off, since we planned on staying four more days in Honolulu. The tour went well. The overall ship experience was very good. The ship was very clean, the crew of the ship made a concerted effort to be friendly and courteous, and our room was very nice and very comfortable, with the air temperature being perfect. Our only negative that we experienced was that we did not enjoy the sit-down restaurants (Liberty and Skyline). The Aloha buffet had many choices and the quality was very good.

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

We have Mid Ship 7088 Starboard with Obstructed view. Great location, just down from the elevators, no noise problems at at.Rooms are small but very well layed out, with no room wasted. Glad we didn't get balcony as the ship always sailed at night. One issue all week as housekeeping forgot toilet paper, had to call twice. Bed was very comfortable and room temperature perfect.
