This is one of those 'better late then never' reviews. We had a great time and I should have written this as soon as we returned home but life threw some curves my way. This was the Western Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona - for us the second part of back to back cruises on this ship. We enjoyed the ship thoroughly, the food was delicious with lots of variety and choices, and the entertainment was some of the best we have seen on board ship. Ports of call were Barcelona, Casablanca, Agadir, Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, Funchal, Malaga and back to Barcelona. We treated Barcelona as a port of call on the 'change-over' day. We headed ashore, walked up to the underground station on Las Ramblas and headed off to Placa Espana and then got the train to Monserrat up in the mountains. We have been there before but it was all new to our friends and we had a lovely day enjoying the mountain air, scenery from the train and visiting marvellous Monserrat. Casablanca was a chance to visit the Hassan II mosque, tour around the city, see the Palace (from the outside only) sample the food, visit the suqs and stop for a visit to Rick's cafe. Agadir was a drive through the countryside with the magnificent Atlas mountains in the background, seeing the tree-climbing goats, visiting Taroudant, a walled city known as the little Marakesh, and a stop at the Berber Baazar in Agadir which can delight and lighten your wallet. Las Palmas was delightful. We did a walking tour - exploring the broad pedestrian boulevards - finding the town square with the lovely cathedral. We went up to the top of the cathedral and had great views over the city. We always seem to find nice spots to have lunch in ports of call - a chance to try the local food. Funchal is a port we have visited frequently and this time our friends went off to explore it. We felt the need to just relax and find the ship is just as much fun when in a port. It is quieter with less passengers on board and we can spend a nice lazy day. Malaga is a lovely port that we plan to visit again to explore. This time, however, we had a tour arranged to take us to the fabled city of Granada. I cannot write or say that name without having the song Granada come into my head. We toured the Alhambra and spent some wonderful hours there taking pictures and exploring the different palaces and gardens. Then we headed down to the city of Granada and some of us went exploring further and some of us opted for a relaxing lunch. Dave and I found a lovely little cafe opposite a park and sat out at a table in the sunshine enjoying a pizza and some wine. The owner was a charming man - who kept bringing over different little treats for us to try and I tried communicating with my very rusty university Spanish from 40 plus years ago. It was a very enjoyable experience. Then it was back to Barcelona and the end of a wonderful three weeks. We had spent a couple of nights in Barcelona before our cruise and spent another night here before our flight home.

Cabin Review

Family Inside

Cabin I1

We found our cabin to be very good, reasonably comfortable, excellent shower with doors rather than curtains that grab. We were only a few steps from an elevator to whisk us up or down to breakfast in the morning. We like the 8th deck as we can walk down to Blue Lagoon easily at any time of day or night.

Our steward was a lady who was nothing short of fabulous and our cabin was made up and put in tidy order by the time we came back from breakfast each day and prepared for the night while we were at dinner. She was super efficient!
