Fantastic Cruise Eastern Caribbean Norwegian Sun March 26-April 2!This was my first experience with Norwegian Cruise Line and like many people I was a little concerned after reading so many negative reviews. My husband and I wanted to get away for a week for my spring break from school (I work in a public school) so we booked this cruise based on price and the fact that it went to some ports that we had never been to before.Embarkation was good, Port Canaveral is very easy to get to and navigate. I did feel that we spent possibly too much time standing in line. We have cruised both Disney and Royal Caribbean before and I prefer the way Disney does it-having you wait seated until your embarkation number is called. I noticed that there is a quicker boarding for Latitudes members which is for people who have cruised with Norwegian before. I didn't feel that it was adequately marked so that many people waited for quite awhile in the long line before being told they could move to the shorter line. The waiting wasn't too bad and we were on board before we knew it.Neither my husband nor I are buffet lovers so instead of going to the buffet we ate our lunch in the Seven Seas. It was a very relaxing lunch and we didn't have to fight the crowds at the buffet. If you prefer things to be quiet and have your food served to you then this is the way to go. The portion sizes on NCL were smaller than previous cruise lines which we actually preferred. If we wanted more food we would order two appetizers and didn't feel stuffed every night. We both thought the food was wonderful in the dining rooms, I would highly recommend the watermelon salad and the soufflE. We did eat one night at Moderno Churrasco, the Brazilian steakhouse where they bring the meat by your table and carve it for you. The food there was also amazing and they kept bringing it until you turned your card over to red showing you were done. My only advice is to not go on the formal night like we did, I would have liked to be in more comfortable clothes! The ports were all great, we had been to Nassau before so we just did a little walking around and then headed back to the ship. We had wonderful times in both St. Thomas and St. Maarten and took tours offered by NCL. In St. Thomas we did the Colonial St. Thomas and Shopping tour and in St. Maarten did the Dutch and French tour. The St. Thomas tour does involve a lot of walking so I do recommend comfortable shoes if you take it. We thought that the guides were all very knowledgeable and fun and it was a great time. If you are in the market for diamonds, St. Thomas is the place to shop and they will set your diamonds and size your ring while you wait. I had my existing diamond upgraded to a different ring and am very happy with the result. The days at sea we spent at the pool reading and relaxing. We thought the entire bar staff were wonderful and did a great job of providing us with drinks. The price of the drinks did not seem to be excessively high. Our cabin steward was wonderful and our room was always clean with ice and fresh towels. The rooms had plenty of storage and we thought the bed was very comfortable, we always slept well. The only criticism I have is that the entertainment was not what we expected. The juggler and Elvy Rose seemed more suited to lounge acts instead of headliners. The bands that they had at the pool and in Dazzles on the other hand were wonderful-they would do better to have them performing the main shows. We loved the Liar's Club-don't miss that if you have a chance to see it.The only other thing that we noticed was that there were not a lot of children on board which was fine for us but if you have small children you might want to check into the activities to make sure that there are things for them to do.We liked the freestyle dining option but it does make it so that you have different servers each night and we prefer getting to know people better like you do when you eat every night with the same server. It was a great cruise and we would definitely cruise NCL again.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Our cabin was quiet with a great view from the balcony. One of our deck chairs had a tear in it but otherwise the room was perfect.
