Last April we were on Crown Princess for a 7-day western caribbean cruise. Loved it so much we booked a 10-day eastern caribbean cruise this year.Paid for "Future Cruise Credits" last year and glad we did - $100 deposits gave us $75 in on-board credits each plus Princess game me $100 in OBC in recognition of my past military service. VERY much appreciated!!Flew from YFC (Fredericton, NB, Canada) to FLL via Montreal. No problems. Love that when you go through US customs in MTL that the officer pulls up a picture on his/her computer showing your suitcase getting loaded onto the plane!Booked our FLL hotel via Priceline. Received the Renaissance Cruise Port for $80. Great location. Received complimentary breakfast buffet due to a very minor maintenance problem (loose closet door handle) in the room. Outstanding customer service! Nice pool that we used for a couple of hours. Located next to Bimini Beach Restaurant/Bar. Enjoyed a couple of afternoon cocktails served by a very friendly bartender "Mr. Tim" from South Carolina then went back for a nice dinner. Overlooks one of the canals so great way to start the holiday.Qucik trip to Total Wines (about a 15 minute walk) to purchase some libations for on board.Took a cab to Pier 21 to board. We were very early so waited a bit but no worry. We were on board and in the pool/hot tub by 12:30!! Embarkation was very smooth.Cabin was an inside on Deck 12. Last year we had an outside on Deck 5. Preferred the Deck 5 location due to proximity to the International Cafe. Having an inside was not an issue for us - we tend to spend very littel time in the cabin. One minor annoyance - cabin had fold down bunks as well as the main beds - a couple of head bumps resulted but adapted relatively quickly. On balance, would prefer a room without the bunks. Otherwise, cabin fully met our needs. Lots of storage space - more than we needed - and tons of closet space and plenty of hangars.Room steward - Brian from India - was excellent. Friendly but not intrusive. Room was always in great shape.Opted again for anytime dining. We really enjoy meeting people from all over. Meals were very good. Sometimes a little noisy in the MDR, especially when seated at tables near the galley entrance/exit. Service in the MDR ranged from good to excellent. One meal at the Crown Grill - outstanding. Believe me when I say I am as cheap as the day is long and I still would say that it is worth the $25 pp surcharge! Pace of service is excellent, portions are huge, quality is as good as I can ever remember having and the atmosphere is quiet, refined.Split our breakfasts between the Horizon and the International Cafe. Both were good.Had one evening meal in Cafe Caribe. Same range of foods as in the MDR but buffet style means you can sample more offerings. On balance I prefer the formality and service of the MDR but I know others enjoy the casual atmosphere of the Cafe Caribe or Horizon in the evening.Pizza, ice cream and grill on the Lido deck were all enjoyable. The Beatle Maniacs show was excellent. The whole audience was up singing and dancing by the end. Perfect show for this age group! Saw the hypnotist show - average. Comedians (Al Katz and Rollin Jay Moore) - average. Lido deck/Explorers band (Lido) - very average.Visited Skywalkers late on the first formal night - lots of fun but seemed dead most of the rest of the time. Tried a zumba class in Club Fusion - lots of fun.International Cafe was by far our favourite space on the ship. Wonderful staff - Giovana, Alejandro and Daria in particular - great food fare and good coffees, blended ice coffees, etc.Ports of call included St Kitts (took a tour with Rose and Jim's - very good), Barbados (took a local bus to Lobster Alive, Carlisle Bay - excellent), St Lucia (deep sea fishing with Hackshaws, great day but no fish :( , Antigua (Eli's Eco Tour - a great excursion) and St Thomas (a bit of shopping).Stop at Princess Cays was OK. I'm not a big fan of this location but seemed better this time than last.Disembarkation was a breeze. Our meeting time was 8:20 and we were off the ship, retrieved our bag, were through US port security and in a cab en route to the airport in approx 20 minutes!
