Sail Date: Mar 2011

As a little background, we are a family of five with two teenage daughters and an 10 year old girl as well. We have cruised six times, twice on Disney and four times with carnival.Embark: Best ever. Arrived at the terminal at about 11:15 a.m. and were on board in about a half an hour. Very friendly staff, very efficient.Cabin: Window staterooms, two of them, on the main deck. Both were very clean with friendly staff keeping it that way.Food: Both the buffet and the main dining room were very good. in fact, probably the best food outside of onboard specialty restaurants that we have had. Good, fast service in the dining room as well. Even the bar service in the dining room was good which has been lacking in past cruises.State of the Ship: Clean and well maintained although some elevators broke down during the cruise. There was some sewer smells here and there but fortunately not near our state rooms.Entertainment: Pretty good. I am not much for the floor shows but the comedian, Mutzie, was very good. Good family comedian show as well.Ports: A. ProgressoIf you get off the ship, you can do a little shopping at the end of the very long Pier which leads into town. The beach area is nice but you will be hounded by aggressive peddlers of all sorts of things, most of which are useless. I understand they have to make a living which i am sure can be difficult. I just would rather not experience it. The best thing to do is to by a tour from Autoprogresso. You can book online or at the port. They are the same tour company that carnival and presumably other lines use except you get the same tour for almost half the price. It also gets done faster without having to wait for next to someone holding up a tour sign for half an hour before you go anywhere. They are reliable, knowledgeable and will get you back in time. We did a tour of the smaller Xcombo ruins and i was impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge of the guide. If you don't want a tour and don't want to be hounded by aggressive peddlers, stay on the ship at this port. B. CozumelNice clean port, beautiful water. this was our second time at this port and once again we booked independently the Nachi Cocom beach resort. Clean with a nice pool, beach and great food. All drinks included as well. Did some snorkeling but conditions were rough so only so-so snorkeling this time. There are many other things to do at this port and i am sure there is something for everyone's tastes.Fellow cruisers: Many families, some college students and a few guests who believe that being loud is how you get through life. Too many chair savers but if you go outside of deck three where the Atrium bar is located, you can get a chair and some quiet time. I wish more people were a little friendlier to the staff. More use of the words "please" and "thank you" would be helpful but that may not be part of our culture anymore.Overall, a good cruise.
