I had read all the previous reviews (thank you all!)and expected a smokey, loud, unpleasant experience. We were taking my high school senior on a "fun ship", so she could have a fun spring break. I was just going along to supervise. The ship was clean, the staff accommodating, and there have been efforts made to make sure you can get away from the crowds if you want that. We do not smoke, and I was fine with the available seating. It was hard to get away from it in the casino, but it was expected there, and not to bad. We have been on other cruise lines where our group and the crew seemed to be the only folks up after 12. Not on this boat, I am glad to say. I thought the entertainment was great. We all enjoyed the Illusionist, the 4 different comedians, the excellent singers and the fantastic dancers. People on this ship actually participated in the games and events at the pool, the shows and the casino. It was a welcome change for me coming from ships where things dull and the poor cruise director was left trying to get the crowd to participate in events that no one was interested in. I enjoyed the energy here.Make sure you carry your ONE bottle of drink in your carry on- they do go through your checked bag and take beverages. Our ports:Cozumel- We used the cruise ship's excursion to Playa Mia Beach Club (you do not need to, it is $40. all inclusive-drinks too!-by cab. We found it fun, loud, very touristy, and great if you want to meet people just like you. My 18 year old daughter enjoyed the para-sailing, henna tattoos, hair braiding(all extra), and we enjoyed the pool and water trampoline. I would suggest trying Tom Jensen's Cozumel bar hop(he is very good about getting back to you and has a great website)if you want to see what the locals tell me is the best part of the island, or going into town to have lunch and walk around.Belize- People on this site said to book a tour. They are right. We simply booked through the cruise line. Belize is at sea level....no beaches where the ship docks. The ruins are interesting. And the people here in Belize really seem to appreciate you being here.Isla Roatan- Our favorite. We walked through the town and out to Erik Galindo's Clip-N-Zip zip line tour stop. He is excellent at communicating with you quickly via email. He provided my requested instructor 'JC' who even went tandem with my 71 year old terrified mother. She ended up loving it! Erik also set up a driver to meet me there by my request. We loved Sherman Arch who provided a mini van for the 7 of us for $180. for the day. I do not know if you could get it for less; I did not even try because I felt happy to pay for the convenience and a really fun tour. Sherman is very quiet. Our young boy thought it was awesome to go to Sherman's house to see "his" iguanas(actually his father's). The Parrot Tree Resort was a hidden gem; very quiet with bar service on it's beach and a protected ocean 'pool' to swim in.Grand Cayman- rich, fancy, clean island. Town is great for shopping, and a stop at touristy Margaritaville is a must. My teenagers did the Stingray wave runner tour through Island Marketing LTD (grandcaymencruiseexcursions.com). They loved it. I would also suggest Gordon Rankin's jetski fishing and safari. 2.5 hr tour going out at 8:30am and 12:30pm.He will get back to you in a day or two. We booked the dolphin and turtle excursion. They are directly across the street from each other. You get plenty of chances to hold different size turtles, and you do things with the dolphins you would never be allowed to do in the states. Great photo op's here!
