I didn't hate the cruise, but I didn't love it either. I was excited about doing something different for vacation and welcomed a new experience. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from the cruise, but I was definitely underwhelmed. I'll start out with the good..... Our cabin stewards were great. Most of our waiters, especially Jennifer in the Venetian, were great. Sitting on the deck and on our balcony gazing out at the bluer than blue water was relaxing. Getting my daily three-mile walk on Deck 7 beats doing the treadmill by a wide margin. For the most part, the food was delicious. Our room was nice, in fact bigger than I thought it would be. The casino was small and crowded -- I'm putting that on the plus side because if it were more comfortable, I would have spent more time and far too much money in there. Now for the bad.... As a few others have mentioned, too many spring breakers. Yes, I did know it was spring break...I've taken spring breaks with my kids for over 20 years. But I knew it was bad when my graduate school daughter turned to me and said "I just want you to know. I have never behaved like this." (She had such disgust in her eyes I knew that she was not lying to me.) I just felt so sorry for the adults that didn't know it was spring break. I know that the cruise industry need to make a load of money on alcohol...but somehow it just does not seem right to me to encourage (and encourage they did) the purchase and consumption of alcohol on these young adults. One day they had to drain the pool because, as I was told by a staffer, someone broke a beer bottle in the pool. We were only able to enjoy the pool area when we were docked in Grand Cayman. We knew that a majority of the kids had gone ashore, so we came back to the ship early so we could enjoy the pool. I thought it was hysterical when we approached the area...it looked like the scene in "Cocoon" when all the old folks jumped in the fountain of youth water. (Oops...I'm one of the old folks now!) Not a teenager in sight. We had bad weather one day. My husband and I were sitting on the deck and basically watched a storm at sea approach. When I thought the storm was about 15 minutes away, I told my husband that we had better go in and call our daughter, who was in our cabin, to warn her. We made the call and from her side of the ship everything looked clear and calm. Before we could make it to the elevator, the storm hit. People were having trouble standing; vendors were loosing things off their tables in the atrium....not quite Titanic, but close enough for me. About 1/2 hour later the captain announces that we were having rough seas....No Joke Sherlock. I'm not how things work, of if it would cause panic if an announcement was made about the storm, but I'm sure others would have liked to been prepared. We saw the storm coming in; my daughter did not. My husband uses a cane; he needed some type of warning that perhaps he needed to sit down. Even on an airplane the pilot warns us about turbulence..... Another inconvenience....was at least two elevators off the atrium of the ship were not working for the vast majority, if not all, of the cruise. Now the ugly......At the buffet one morning, my daughter went to the line to get my husband some bacon. He likes crisp bacon. She returned upset and with raw bacon. I'm not talking under cooked, I'm talking raw pork. Just about that time, someone came by the table to ask how everything was. My daughter complained about the raw bacon, how she tried to get the crisp pieces on the bottom, but that the person behind the counter insisted she get the "new" bacon. The head chef came out....I guess he was the head, he had on a tall white hat. The waitress told him what the problem was. And he said "Do you want me to cook it harder for you." Harder????? Apparently the head chef did not know what raw bacon looked like. I shall not tell you how I responded....it wasn't very pretty. Also my daughter had an unpleasant experience in the spa. Apparently the person that was giving her a pedicure was a disgruntled NCL employee....she described in curse-word terms how employees were treated, their living situation, that she was glad she had only 4 more days before she left the trip, etc. She also used a few choice curse words to fellow employees in the spas, who responded to her in a like manner. Her anger also translated into a "rough" pedicure. My daughter had to tell her that she was hurting her. When my daughter told me about her experience, I suggested that she make a complaint. However, when she complained, she was treated as if she were lying. Also, they brought the employee face to face with my daughter for her to complain. The confrontation was very uncomfortable for her. But when she was able to give a behind-of-the-scene accounts of what the employee had told her, the facial reactions of the employee, we believe, convinced the manager that my daughter was in fact telling the truth. She was given a refund. So I know that this has been a long posting, but this has been the one place I could vent. I tried to answer the survey that was emailed to me by NCL, but some type of "technical" difficulties wouldn't allow it.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Great view, close to elevators (two of which were not working during our cruise), nice balcony, could not feel the motion of the ocean.
