We had two days in Cabo (the second day substituted for Mazatlan which was dropped from the itinerary due to recent violence in that city). The first day we took a kayak and snorkeling adventure in the harbour area. The kayaking was fun and challenging given the waves in the harbour. However, those waves (stirred up by a lot of boat traffic) interfered with the snorkeling somewhat. The view was not that clear and only a couple of type of fish were spotted. The water was also colder than what we expected.
The second day, we explored Cabo on our own. We walked the streets, did some shopping and took in the area. Nothing that I can remember stood out but it was a pleasant and worthwhile experience, my first on Mexican soil.
We walked throughout the city towards the Playa Los Muertos in the Zona Romantica where we spent a very enjoyable several hours sunning ourselves on the beach. We went to the Blue Chairs Resort, a well-known gay resort and beach area. We had a nice lunch as well as sunbathing. My friend checked out the beach itself and said that the sand was much nicer than in Cabo and that the water was warmer.
When we left, we both thought that Puerto Vallarta would make for a nice week's vacation itself.
