We (3 couples - 55-62 yo) from CT had a very enjoyable cruise! Embarkation was a breeze! Only hold up was waiting for a wheel chair. As soon as we got on the ship we went straight to Ocean Pacific. Very relaxing and we all enjoyed our meals. It was chilly leaving NY but we were able to be outside. 1st day at sea was rainy and windy and cold. Could not be outside at all. Port Canaveral - Beautiful sunny day! We rented a car and did a private air boat ride...just the 6 of us plus the captain. We saw a lot of alligators. Excellent! Highly recommend doing this!GSC - Another beautiful sunny day! 2 of us took the first tender, got life vests (we brought our own snorkel equipment), claimed our loungers, and enjoyed most of the day in the water. The water was cool, but once we were in it was perfect! We saw a lot of fish near the rocks. Great day!Nassau - Yes...lucky us! Another beautiful sunny day! 2 of us took a segway tour (booked ourselves) and it was a lot of fun! Only 7 on our tour. Loved it because it was on private property on dirt trails. I wouldn't want to do it on the streets with traffic. Stopped at a beautiful beach too. I really want a segway of my own!! Yes...LOVED it that much! IMO this is a MUST do! The other 4 took a cab to Cable Beach (easy to get to) and it was beautiful. Not crowded at all.Day at sea - Sunny again! :) Everyone was outside enjoying the sun! All the lounge chairs were taken, so we untied some that were stacked and found a perfect location. Last day at sea - rough seas again, and cold. Vacation coming to an end. :(The Gem is a beautiful ship! Very clean! Staff - EXCELLENT!! Always had excellent service and everyone was very friendly. Food - We enjoyed Ocean Pacific most nights. Went to Magenta twice. 2 couples went to Le Bistro and loved it! 1 couple ate at Cagney's for breakfast and lunch a few times and thought that was great. Couldn't decide between 2 items and the chef combined them!! Wonderful!! Didn't go to the Garden Cafe. Went to the Great Outdoors a few times. Very good! Our only complaint was the BBQ at GSC. Not good at all!! Drinks - Favorite bartender was at the Martini Bar! That was our stop for pre-dinner drinks.Shows - Really enjoyed all except the improv group. Just not funny that night. Loved The Man From Mars and Fountains! That is a must see! LOL!!Casino - Nice size! There are also slot machines in Bliss. Got smokey when it was crowded.*Other - 1 person rented an electric scooter from Special Needs at Sea. The battery died the first night (at the front of the ship...his cabin was in the back!) and needed to be pushed back. Same thing happened the next day. Phone called were made to Special Needs and they could have easily exchanged it with a working scooter in Port Canaveral, but instead did nothing. It didn't ruin the vacation, but it made it very difficult for our friend.**Other - It happened to be Spring Break! Lots of college kids. We didn't see much of them. Did the crew keep them under control?? Not sure...but we didn't hear of any problems. OH!! Our "scooter" friend did see them late one night! It was when his scooter died (AGAIN!) and a group of guys pushed him all the way back to his room and told him to call is he needed them again! THANKS!
