Ship Facts: MSC Fantasia Review (by Cruise Critic!) | MSC Fantasia Deck Plans
MSC Cruisers BEWARE
My first impression of the ship was that it was beautiful and very clean. Our cabin was on the 13th level with a balcony. It was fine but looked nothing like the entrance areas of the ship. The rooms were cleaned and serviced twice daily. There was no problem with staff understanding English. We felt comfortable being one of the less than 20 Americans on the ship.

The dining room food was ok. This is were the fine and good ends.

There was an extra charge for even a glass of water plus the 15% gratuity. The only free water is in a few hidden corners of the buffet and in tiny little cups. All other drinks including water were at least several Euros each. Of course the alcohol was very pricey. No soft drinks or even water could be brought on board.

We got NO information about the ports that we would visit. All questions were answered with take the excursions offered by MSC. They were very overpriced.

When the MSC offered a shuttle to the towns they charged at least 6 Euros to go a mile or so. Some ports offered free shuttles to the port gates.

We arrived 5 hours late in the Rome port due to weather and were not informed of the delay until it was time for the ship to arrive. The excursions were cut from full day to half day with no refund for the other half day.

We were to visit the Rock of Gabriltar but this was canceled with no mention yet they still listed it as a stop on this and future cruises.

The management showed no concern for the passangers. They only wanted the money. We gave our credit card for the service charges as well as other charges on board. This was a big mistake. They charged our card for contributions to a charity without our approval. The internet would not work and we had paid about 88 Euros for 6 hours of use. They would not listen to the fact that the internet would not work. We had all of the unused time left and were refused a refund. We were even charged 10 Euors for internet that we did not approve. We had to settle our account before we could leave the ship so therefore they had me. When I got home, I discovered and additional $137 charged to my card. I am in the process of disputing charges with my credit card company.

I would not take another cruise with MSC under any conditions. If you choose to use this company, leave a cash deposit and not a credit card. Be ready to pay, pay, pay or be thirsty. Learn about all of the ports before you leave home. Do not depend on using the Internet to find out about the ports as you travel. Of course, do not expect answers of any of your questions no matter what language you speak.
