I'm delighted to have picked Voyager for my first "real" cruise (first actual one was on the old Britannis back in '91, a subject best forgotten). I had read various reviews, postings and opinions on the ship beforehand, and had watched the Travel Channel special on the ship, but still was unprepared for the spectacle of the ship herself.
I stayed the night prior to sailing at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort and have nothing but good things to say about the hotel - room, decor, staff and food were all terrific. But getting from the hotel to the ship proved to be a problem. Transfer was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. but we (friends and I) found out by accident that it was switched to 1:00 p.m. due to Customs regs. We waited out front of the hotel until 1:45. There would have been no bus at all had the hotel concierge not taken it on herself to call the bus company twice and insist that they send the scheduled bus. Then the driver seemed to take the "long way 'round" down through South Beach in heavy tourist traffic.
Embarkation at the pier itself proved to be smooth and problem free. There were a few hundred (guessing there) people lined up but the line moved quickly and check-in at the desk took only a few minutes. All 3 of us had brought our luggage with us and were able to take it up on the elevator, straight onto the ship. So, no problem with waiting for luggage to show up.
