Norwegian cruise line is wonderful

Sail Date: March 2011
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Miami

If you can afford to stay in an owner's suite, I suggest you do. The pampering is worth the extra money. We got a special boarding time and escort. We had a embarkation reception. We had breakfast and lunch at Cagney's steakhouse at no extra charge. It was like having our own restaurant. Usually there were only 2 to 3 other families eating there. We had a private breakfast most mornings. The food was wonderful and we felt like we were the only ones on the ship.

The room was great with a large balcony with chairs and tables and 2 chaise lounges. We got snacks brought to our room each afternoon at 4:30. The steward cleaned our room every morning and again while we were at dinner. Our concierges, Luiggi and Ana-maria were wonderful. They got us reserved seats for the show, booked a limo to pick us up after the cruise. The bed in our suite was so comfortable. We each had 3 pillows and one was memory foam. We had room service, which was extremely quick. The pizza was ok, not great More though.

All the food in all the restaurants and dining rooms was great. I would have liked the presentation of the food at the buffet to be more colorful. It was more like a Golden Corral restaurant set up. The crepe station, pasta station and stir fry station were wonderful.

Having a balcony on the back of the ship was perfect. We could sit out there and feed the seagulls or just enjoy the view. The ride is better in the back, but there is the roar of the engines. Most of the time it was like having a vibrating bed, but occasionally, it would wake us up with the shaking. There was a whirlpool tub in the bathroom, but it didn't work. There was shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, cu-tips, cotton balls, and lotion in the bathroom. There was a desk with a vanity mirror in the bedroom. The best part was lying in the bed in the mornings and watching the ocean. There were floor to ceiling windows in both the bedroom and the living room. There was also a cappuccino machine, but we don't drink coffee, so we didn't try it. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us when we embarked.

We were escorted to the beginning of the line to leave the ship. Guests in the owner's suites don't wait in lines to get on, get off or really anywhere.

The ship is large enough that there weren't really any crowds anywhere. We never had to wait to be seated at dinner, or any meal. There were a lot of people using the pool and hot tubs, but there were plenty of chairs and tables.

We highly recommend the Norwegian cruise line. The freestyle concept is wonderful if you like to do things when you want and like to eat with the people that you came with. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Sky 9075

Large, 3 closets, dresser drawers, couch, table, 2 chairs, 2 TV's, DVD player, stereo with Boze speakers, jacuzzi tub, large bathroom, comfortable bed with ocean view. Great balcony with 2 chaise lounges. Quiet location, but close to everything. The best cabin on the ship.

Port and Shore Excursions

We didn't do any shore excursions. We went to Norwegian's shopping seminar and learned a lot. We bought some makeup, a loose diamond, a suitcase, (ours broke on the way to the airport) and some souvenirs. We had the help of Norwegian's shopping consultant to help us with our purchases. It was great. We returned to the ship to have lunch because it was in Cagney's steakhouse and was soooooo gooood.
