We were on the 14 day btb (back to back) NCL Dawn cruise leaving 2/25/2011. The 9 day eastern Caribbean cruise was very family friendly. Mostly older couples on board.Really enjoyed our cc m&g on the first day at sea. Very special to have the opportunity to hear from staff and meet other experienced cruisers. We then did a "cabin crawl" with this group and that was fun to see the different categories of rooms on the ship. Much better than trying to view the floor plans on the website.

The food was very good. The one time I did not like my selection, I was offered a second choice, which came quickly and was good. The service varied depending on the waiter you had. This is a downfall with freestyle cruising. You don't have a consistent waiter. But the upside is getting to go to dinner when you want. Some have complained on cc that they had a wait time for dinner. We never waited more than 10-15 min to get into a dining room, especially if you indicated that you were willing to share a table during the busy hours. (you would have to share a table on non-freestyle cruises, so we didn't see the big deal here if you didn't want to wait.) Usually we were seated within 5 minutes.

Spa: We bought the thermal package and really enjoyed this.It gives you access to the spa which has a common lap pool, jacuzzi and hot mineral bath along with a quiet area with lounge chairs to view out large windows at the back of the ship.It also has separate locker rooms, sauna and steam rooms. They only sell this to 50 passengers, so it is NEVER crowded. Loved it.Friendly staff. Shout outs to Carla and Christian!
