Impressed by Silversea attention to detail from the online check-in to the pre-cruise documentation.
The transfer from the Barbados airport to the ship, and check in was handled well. The small ship is elegant and in fine condition. My suite was very nice with good carpentry and marble/stone bathroom.
The food was generally good; fresh ingredients and well prepared. That said, the food was not gourmet, and the Relais & Chateaux appellation is misleading.
The service level was very high, though some of the staff had a tendency to push guests to overeat and overdrink. In fact, there were elements of bullying and harassment. This is not good service (quality versus quantity). I made a deduction from the Cloud's rating for this serious breech of etiquette.
In general, the cruise was very good value. But, the high service level has been achieved with less experienced people who don't get the fine art of service.
Attended the first show at the Venetian Lounge "Dance on the Waves". It was nice and energetic enough, but the principle singers were underwhelming. Won't be attending another.
Unlike some other cruise lines, no problems with a/c or plumbing. No smells in the corridor and no leaks. All complaints have been attended to promptly. Apologies genuinely given when it's their fault.
I found the passengers to be quite friendly. A great deal of bonding was achieved by the end of the cruise!
I am awarding the Silver Cloud a 4/5 overall. 4.25 for ship and cabin. 4.0 for service and food. 3.5 for the gym. 3.0 for entertainment. Plus, a 4.5 for value.
