Enjoyable week on the Oosterdam
Destination: Mexican Riviera
Embarkation: San Diego
We booked a VH cabin and got upgraded to a VB. We were really pleased with our cabin location. Just off the hallway by the elevator and stairwell. Easy to get to the Spa and Lido.
My husband and I both enjoyed the SPA and took advantage of different specials offered during the cruise.
We are not picky eaters and enjoyed all the meals we ate at the Lido buffet. We especially enjoyed the meals and service in the Pinnacle Grill. There is a $20 fee per guest for dinner and a $10 fee per guest for lunch. We enjoyed both dinner and lunch at the Grill. We also enjoyed dinner at the Italian restaurant. No fee is charged and it was a pleasant dinner with good service.
Our favorite tour was in Mazatlan -- Salsa to Salsa. This ship sponsored tour takes place in a hotel downtown. Actually, it takes place on a More large covered patio area overlooking the beach. First they teach you to make really good margaritas and then to make 3 different types of salsa including guacamole -- DELICOUS! After the food and drink are consumed, they teach you to dance the salsa - LOTS OF FUN.
Cabo is a beautiful port with lots to do. We went on a whale watching tour and got to see quite of few up close. Lots of dolphins and sea lions too.
We signed up for the Luggage Direct to Airport - great deal. For a $19 fee,per person, our luggage was taken directly from outside our cabin door to the airport. We did not see it again until we reached Dallas. With this option, the ship also prints out your boarding pass, so you can go directly to your gate. Saves a lot of time.
We had a Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle the first sea day of the cruise. Kenneth Johnson, Bar Manager, did a nice job of setting up the area for us in the Crows Nest. Even had a sign that read "Reserved for Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle" Always fun to meet the folks we chat with for months before we begin our cruise.
Until the next time, and there will be a next time....Happy Sailing Less
