Carnival does not compare to Princess or RCCL

Sail Date: February 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

We wanted to sail from our home Port of Galveston and decided Carnival to Jamaica was the cruise for us.

Arrived in fogbound Galveston Saturday before cruise and was finally able to board around 4 PM on Sunday. Unfortunately a barge had bumped the Conquest and we had to stay in the harbor until Monday morning. Lost our docking in Jamaica and Carnival subbed Progresso.

Carnival gave every passenger $15 credit for the inconvenience. REALLY

Cruise was for hubby's birthday which was Sunday and the dining room finally acknowledged it on Friday.

Housekeeping staff was OUTSTANDING.

Wait staff through out the ship was overall indifferent to the guest. Stood around talking in groups and resent being interrupted

Point Steak House was superb would highly recommend it to everyone. First Cass all the way.

Cabin was closest to elevator use for moving luggage.

Very few planned activites for seniors.

Overall we will not More be booking on Carnival again when we can get better value for our money on other cruise lines. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Conquest Balcony Upper 6356

Spacious, clean and except for elevators being used to transport luggage ideal location.

Port and Shore Excursions

Enjoyed the Mayan Ruins and tour. Again no time except.

The Turtles, Hell and Stingray was outstanding. However, wear you bathing suit under clothing. Changing room provided are inadequate. Had not time to shop arrival and departure allowed only enough time to do excursion and back on board for sailing.

Not the port we paid for was hot/humid and their only claim to fame is a 4 mile pier. The excursion to the Mayan was more elaborate but so hot and so much walking could not be truly enjoyed. Lunck was very good. Horsemen, dancers, and singer put on a nice show.
