Cabin: Junior Suite

This was our ninth cruise, first on a Voyager Class ship. We've been on larger and smaller Royal Caribbean ships. This ship is in very good condition for being 10 years old. We had a junior suite on deck 9, starboard side, forward. The cabin was large (approx. 280 sq.') with a good sized balcony with 2 chairs, a small table and a lounge chair. The cabin had 2 chairs and table, a couch, and we chose to have the beds together which turned out to be a king. The suite also had a 26" flat screen TV and a stocked refrigerator. We saw neighboring balcony cabins with the old tube style TV's. There was more storage space than we needed including a walk in closet and our bathroom had a bath tub/shower combo. The colors of the room were very tropical shades or orange, red, green. The only thing I didn't like about this stateroom was the balcony had a foot wide structural support in the middle of our view. I'm not sure if that was inherent to all the suites or just our cabin.

The Royal Promenade was in great shape with many shops, bars and food choices. The dining rooms (3 decks that are open in the center looking down)were well staffed and efficient. The staff throughout the ship was exceptional and friendly. It didn't matter if it was a maintenance man, a waiter or a housekeeper, they always greeted you with a smile. The food in the main dining rooms was very good with the exception of the prime rib I ordered 1 night. It was overcooked when I ordered it medium. The next table over got a piece that was perfectly cooked. We ate at Portofino's Restaurant 1 night for our anniversary. There's a $20 per person charge but was in my opinion worth it. The food is up scale and you can order as much or as little as you want.

The ports of call were Curacao,Aruba,Dominica,St. Thomas USVI. I liked the towns of Willemstad Curacao, and Oranjestad Aruba, although they are heavily saturated with jewelery stores and junk stores that sell the same things. Roseau Dominica is a very depressing town of poverty and people trying to sell you the typical small junk. Fortunately we took an excursion to Trafalgar Falls. This was about a 20 minute drive up the mountain. This is a true tropical rain forest and very scenic. The falls were just ok and had to take pictures from a platform from a distance. Our excursion was supposed to be able to hike down to the water at the bottom of the falls but we weren't allowed to due to time constraints (per the driver). Not sure I would do it again.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

this junior suite has lots of storage areas and a large walk in closet. The balcony was wide but not very deep. There was a structural beam dividing the view. There was a full tub/shower combo and lots of room to maneuver in the bathroom. This was a very well maintained suite.
