After reading the very mixed reviews on Cruise Critic regarding Celebrity's Eclipse, we sailed with some trepidation on February 26th with quite a large group of people of mixed ages.
I do not know what the people who wrote negative reviews were looking for in a cruise! They must not be able to be pleased no matter what!
The ship is the most beautiful one we've been on in over 30 cruises! The food was exceptional all over the ship. We loved the little restaurant in the solarium. Normally we don't go for the "additional fee specialty restaurants"; but several in our group wanted to try one. We chose Qsine. What an excellent choice. It was a remarkable meal, served "tapas style". (Everything served in appetizer sizes according to the number of people dining) You are handed an i-pad to make your selections. It was fun and the food was awesome, and the presentation very different and extremely appealing!
All the staff onboard went out of their way to see that our every whim was answered in the most pleasant way possible. From wait staff in the MDR to our cabin attendant; all were wonderful. Even the staff who were not directly involved with passengers ie: maintainance workers, went out of their way to be pleasant, greeting you whenever the opportunity arose. The captain was very personable and easily approachable. Having reached Emerald status on RCCL, and having reached Select status on Celebrity, we were invited to 4 Captains Club events, all of which were wonderful. We took a galley tour which was interesting as well as enlightening.
Our cabin had plenty of room, and adequate storage. The bathroom was perfect with plenty of room, and lovely tile work. We enjoyed our balcony during the day as well as in the evening.
The only piece of advise I can offer: Do not put anything fragile in your luggage!
