Let me give you a little background: There were 11 family members cruising, most of them vet cruisers and they ranged in age from just under 4 to 74. We come from all walks of life and all parts of our country, from OR to FL and states in the middle. This was one reason we chose to sail out of New Orleans, as it was the most convenient. Though we are all family, we have different views on life; so my review is based on the overall feelings of our family. Now let's start with the cabins:

All of us were BC category, 11th deck aft. The cabins are small which, from sailing the Spirit before, we were expecting. I think some of our group were a little shocked. There was plenty of storage space and a little love seat in each cabin. With the exception of a little rust and a little mold, which can be expected on slightly older ships, the cabins were spotless and the beds, though firm, were very comfortable. I usually wake up with a slight back ache, but not on this cruise. I would advise those who are light sleepers not to book the cabins we did because the crew power cleans all the decks above the 11th very early in the morning resulting in some noise. If you are not light sleepers or have ear plugs, than go for it, as the location is great. Just down the hall a few feet and you are out on the deck with tables and lounges. One deck directly above is the Raffles buffet and the outside grill, just below is the kids' club (but no noise, that I can assure you). One more addition to what I have mentioned: the air conditioner works great. We were never too hot or too cold, with a touch of a button we could get everything perfect.

Because we had a 3 year old with us, we became very familiar with the kids' club. Not only from our great granddaughter's attitude, but from those of a 5 year old, a 7 year old, an 8 year old and an 11 year old, it certainly was a success and the kids' pool is wonderful. An important addition here: please do not put the nont-potty-trained little ones in the pool, even with swimmy diapers, since twice the pool had to be drained. This lost days of fun for the other children. Some of the activities the kids enjoyed were going to a show, a dinner party and a pajama party. The club is open until 10:30 pm, after which there is a $6 an hour charge for 1 child and an additional $4 for more than one child.
