My sweetheart and I long awaited the cruise aboard the Solstice. It was booked nearly a year ago directly with the cruise line. I apparently was one of the few that benefitted from a dramatic price drop a few months before the cruise, saving nearly $500 for the two of us.
My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day. Everything about the day, and the cruise for that matter, seemed so very special. We celebrated champagne and wedding cake with other honeymooners and others with Valentine anniversaries at an event organized by the Solstice that morning. Flowers/Roses arrived at the cabin, courtesy of my husband, then the waiters sang "Happy Anniversary to you," that evening to my sweetheart and I at the formal dinner.
So . . . enough of that. Let me start by saying that my husband and I arrived a day early, stayed at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas where I was successful in booking the room night through Priceline for $100. There are lots of trendy restaurants in the area including a Cheesecake Factory almost next door!
Cabin was larger than I remember on Carnival Conquest or Glory. Bathroom was definitely larger, well lit, and had a large walled shower that was really nice. The rooms are outside of the atrium and along a hallway near the elevator and library. It was always quiet, day or night. The balcony was always relaxing with a view of the navigation tower. Balcony furniture was very comfortable BUT THERE WAS NO LIGHT ON THE BALCONY so at night you could hardly see the hand in front of your face. Once totally dark it was spooky to be outside with no lighting. I guess that would be my only negative comment; no light on the balcony. The cabin steward, Ronnie, was the best!
