Stayed in Plantation at the Sheridan Suites, booked on price line great deal and enjoyed 2 days pre-cruise down time, sight seeing and shopping.
Had a rental so dropped our luggage off at the ship around 10am. Enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and returned the car..Hertz.They gave us a ride to the ship, complimentary shuttle.
arrived at about 12:15 and in our cabin to drop off the carry on, and lunch and
libations by the aft pool no later than 12:40..extreemly efficient check in.
The itinerary for this trip was excellent. We have done this route before and that was perfect. No guess work and just wanted beaches. This ticked the boxes.
Tender to Princess Cays was a little choppy. But well worth the short boat ride. Had some rough seas on the way into the Carrib. Which for some caused some issue with the day at sea..I find it relaxing and lulls you to sleep at night. St. Marrtens was nice and hot. Walked into St.Phillipburg for some retail therapy and then rented 2 chairs, umbrella and 5 beers for 20.OO enjoyed the rest of the day in the sun. St.Thomas. Did a catamaran/snorkel tour. Had a great time with the friends on the cat. Wind was up and water choppy so did not go as far as promised. But enjoyed the company and the painkillers being served on board. Was pleasantly surprised with a pair of dulphins that decided to follow up back to our mooring. Grand Turk. Lovely beach and right there once the ship docks at the pier. Very relaxing day, Had a quick drink at "Margarittaville" but found a quiet spot on the beach and enjoyed the day.
The ship. Having sailed on the Crown and the Carrib. Layout was the same so familiar with my way around. The food was excellent. A MUST TRY is Sabatini's and the Crown Grill. Many passengers little leary to spend the extra. But Celebrating a 25th and Valentine's. They were both a wonderful evening. Have a light lunch if you decide to go as the food is endless. We also had anytime dining..Travelled with another couple so a table for 4. We made reservations in the morning for 7:30pm that worked for us as we would enjoy appetizers and cocktails on the balcony pre dinner and did not feel rushed at all. Used the buffet for breaki only. The pizza bar by the pool hit the spot for lunch. yum!
Did not do the movies under the stars..Not a real TV fan and that is the last thing I want to do on vacay. Sat by the main pool, watched the sites and listened to the tunes. The Band was the East coast connection..Great sound but the repertoire was all of 15 songs. they took requests but did not know many songs...So the passengers were yelling the last 2 days what songs not to sing.It was funny to say the least. The pool by the MUTS was always packed, did not appear to be any empty chairs. So obviously enjoyed by others.
The rest of the ship is in beautiful condition. Our cabin was top notch and our steward could not do enough for us. All the staff was courteous and a pleasure to deal with.
Entertainment, we have seen the broad way numbers before so really not interested. Took in a couple of the comedy acts. Sat at the piano bar which over looks the Piazza, and met other cruisers. Hit the casino once. Just to smoky to enjoy. Not hard to put in a day.
Disembarkation's was a breeze. We were spending another day in Lauderdale so no rush to get off the ship. We had our breakfast at the buffet and our steward said no big deal and allowed up to keep our carry on in the cabin until 8:30 we were off the ship by 9:20am.
The week flew by. It seemed we had just unpacked our luggage and met the room steward...Where did the time go. Would I travel Princess again..This was my 5th princess and I really enjoy the atmosphere, the food, and the service.
I will travel princess again and again..but also the others as I have never experienced a bad cruise to date.
Of final note. We had only met one other ship in port on 2 occations, the other ports, Ruby were the only ship in. We really lucked out as I heard the day after we left St. Thomas they were expecting 7 ships in the port..wow what congestion and that would really put a damper on the day in port. Read the boards, a wealth of info and great way to plan a great trip.
Bon Voyage fellow travellers.
