Red Sea Magical Mystery Cruise
Destination: Middle East
We're relatively experienced cruisers and although we have used Thomson before for beach holidays, had fairly low expectations of this trip. How wrong we were, this ship and her crew were excellent throughout.
Booking at the last minute gave us a good deal and we upgraded to a deluxe cabin.
As indicated, this was partially obstructed by lifeboats but with good views out to sea. Cabin size was good and a bath much appreciated by my Wife.
Yes she is an older ship but very well maintained, exceptionally clean and crewed by the most friendly and polite people you could wish for, from the Master to the cabin and technical staff.
Unlike so many other lines, there was always plenty of activities (historical talks, west end shows, comedian, bands, etc.) The entertainment staff and the shows were of a very high professional standard.
We ate mainly in the waiter driven Meridian Restaurant where the service was exceptionally high standard. The food More was good wherever we were.
Because of the situation in Egypt, Ports of call were limited and the title 'Red Sea Magical Mystery Cruise' was actually the Master's description, we were always unsure where next.
Thomson did a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances and arranged free trips to the Holy Land. Having been before we stayed on board and enjoyed freedom of an empty ship, but still with all the good services.
The one organised tour we did complete was to Petra in Jordan. Don't miss this if you ever get the chance, it is a true wonder of the World.
Couldn't fault Thomson at all for their arrangements and excellent and continually updated information. They even presented my Wife with a rose on valentines day (putting me to shame)
Congratulations to all at Thomson for hel[ing us to have a brilliant break away from the cold and damp in England. Less

Cabin review: DLX77
Deluxe Grade Cabin 77 Deck 8. Quite spacious, well maintained and kept clean and tidy by an efficient but discrete steward. Nice to have a bath but tiling needs a bit of attention. All well appointed, good storage space and comfortable with continental quilts, fridge, pool towels, safe and toiletries.
