We arrived in San Juan a day early, wanting to be sure we didn't miss the boat on Sunday. We were pleased with accommodations at the Quality Inn in Condado. Quaint, but clean...and breakfast was included. Sunday we had a little time to explore San Juan which was fun...there's a beautiful pier and an outside market area that was neat. We arrived to the ship around noon and had to wait in line for about an hour because the boat wasn't open for passengers yet. Once the boat opened, the line went fairly quickly. Once on the ship we headed for the Windjammer where food and drinks were waiting! Within an hour we were able to get into our room. (Plug for a balcony room!! If you can swing it, or if you can get upgraded thru your travel agency- do it!! What a difference!) We spent the rest of the day exploring the ship. The ship looks great- it's very clean and kept up. I especially loved the Promenade deck. It's designed to look like a city street with a cafe, sports bar, and shops.

Day 2: Cruising! Started off the day in the "Ship Shape" exercise area. (the only day we had time to visit this part of the ship)! The equipment was fine & there was a lot of variety, too. We spent the rest of the day on the decks, trying not to get blown away. It was really windy that day, which wasn't the greatest. That night was our first formal night. We had "my time dining." They recommend that you call ahead for reservations, but we didn't do so that night. When we arrived, they were very busy. Our server was running around, looking physically drained. It was a little disappointing because we have memories from previous cruises of great service throughout a long, intimate dinner.

Day 3: Barbados. We had planned to go to Brandon's Beach, but then were persuaded by Gia & Matthew (at the Champagne Bar- 2 of our favorite bartenders!) to go to the Boatyards. We got off the ship and were bombarded by taxi drivers wanting our business (just be warned!). We told a driver where we wanted to go but once we were on the road, the driver suggested we go to Ackley Beach (I'm not sure I have the name of this beach right but that's how it sounded). She convinced us and we weren't disappointed. The beach had beautiful palm trees and a nice sandy beach to walk on. The rocky area by the beach was full of sand crabs which was fun too. The taxi ride was $15 per couple and then it was extra to get a beach umbrella and chairs. the amount for the chairs and umbrellas worked like a credit for whatever food/drink you purchased at the bar there.
