Fun in the Sun

Sail Date: February 2011
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was the best of the four cruises we've been on to date. From embarkation to offload, everything went like clockwork.

We onloaded at approximately 1145 after a whopping 10 minutes at check-in counter! On top of that, our room was ready immediately! We've never had that happen. The room was well appointed with a spacious balcony on the port side of the ship forward. Even though we were quite a ways forward, we didn't ever feel things were too far away. We actually enjoyed the distance and thought of the walk as part of our exercise regimen.

Meals were typically top-notch Princess vintage with several choices. The quality was excellant. The wait staff was generally on top of things, but the meals sometimes ran long. We ate in the Da Vinci Room which apparently shares a kitchen with the Bottecelli Room. This was given as a reason for some of our delays. I'm not sure, but I think "anytime dining" might have slowed things up a bit as well. Sabatini's is a must, but More be forewarned. Don't eat a big lunch or do too much snacking beforehand. They serve nearly all of their appetizers, etc. barely leaving room for the main course or dessert.

The pools were were always accessable and very refreshing. Movies under the Stars were a nice feature of which we occasionally took advantage.

It was sunny every single day!

Our disembarkation was hassle free and efficiently run. Less

Cabin review: Crown Princess Oceanview Double with Balcony Baja B242

Our cabin was plenty big enough for us. We found it well appointed and with sufficient storage space. We also slept better than we have in a long time. The balcony was a great place to read or to sit sipping our favorite beverage just watching the world go by. Our temperature control was nearly perfect--so no issues there.

Port and Shore Excursions

Once again, the facilities at the port were outstanding. Well done cruise line! We went on the Catamaran, Snorkeling, Beach Party tour. The boat was a 5 minute walk from the terminal. The excursion was outstanding! Lots of good snorkeling; a wonderful time at a private beach, and all the margaritas and cerveza you felt like drinking. The guide staff were top notch and very concerned for our safety as well as ensuring we had a good time.

Having been to Grand Cayman before, we elected to stay aboard and take advantage of the nearly empty ship. Poolside chairs were not an issue as we had the run of the place. That goes for the fitness center as well.

Outstanding port facility. It was very nice walking off the ship into such a nice, well-appointed area. IT was also nice stoipping there for a nice cold beverage (Fat Tuesday)prior to getting back on board. We did the Clear Kayaking and Snorkeling tour. After a 40+ minute bus ride--educational in itself for what you got to see, we arrived at the west end and had a wonderfully run day in the water. It was beautiful. The local guides were fantastic. This excursion is a keeper.
