My family just returned from our second cruise on the Carnival Legend. My family consists of my husband and myself (40ish) and our 14 year old son. We did a 7 day Western Caribbean that left from Tampa. We visited Grand Cayman, Roatan Honduras, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.

We flew in to Orland (about a 1 hr car drive from Tampa) a couple days early to visit family that lives there. The Orlando airport is pretty easy to get around in at 10:30 at night. It was a little busier for our return home at 4:30 on Sunday, but we still made it from the drop off curb to our gate in under 30 minutes. That included security, and a tram ride.

The Port of Tampa can be tricky to get to as most of the streets around it are one ways and if you're on the wrong street you have to back track to get to it. We arrived around 1pm and were on the ship by 1:45. It is always easier if you arrive AFTER the bus loads of people shuttled in from the airports. The staff at the port were very courteous, and helpful.

The ship was recently refurbished so the carpet and fixtures were in good shape. Our window room was as spacious as any we have had. We were on the 1st level to help avoid motion sickness. The food in the dining room was excellent. We had wonderful, attentive servers that took the time to get to know us. We have done the "as you wish dining" our past 3 cruises and have found it to work well for us. We eat early and did hear complaints about an 1hr plus wait around 6:30-7:00. The entertainment was typical for a cruise ship. The last production by the Legend dancers was amazing and should not be missed.

This was one of the best cruises we have taken (we've been on 9 total). We had beautiful weather, great ports and service from the staff on the Legend. Highly recommended.

Cabin review: Interior

Not enough drawer, and shelf space or hangers. Plenty of closet and nook and cranny space. Quiet hallway. Good room overall.

Port and Shore Excursions

Our next stop was Costa Maya. We were suppose to go to Belize, but there were tendering issues so we ended up in Costa Maya. It was very crowded there with 2 ships in port. It is a very poor area and I would recommend an excursion at this port. We did the power snorkeling excursion offered by the ship which was a little crowded but fun. All in all a nice day. There is a pool and some shopping as you get off the ship, but little else.

Our last stop was Cozumel. Our best day yet. It started out a little chilly but warmed up to about 85. We booked our own excursion to Nachi Cocom Beach Resort. You have to go here if you go to Cozumel. It was a beautiful beach. You are given your own server who brings you all the free drinks you can stand. You also get a lunch which you order from a menu and your own beach lounger and sun shade. The service was great. There is also a pool available for use. We did the snorkel by boat. This was some of the best snorkeling we have ever done. Tons of different fish. A day beyond words!!!

Our first port was Grand Cayman. The weather was nice, but it was rather crowded because of all the cruise ships in town. We took the snorkel and shipwreck excursion offered by the ship. We were a little disappointed as we were only feet from the ship the whole time. Stingray city is the big attraction in Grand Cayman. We have done that 3 times and were hoping for something a little different. The crew was nice, but overall not a great experience.

Our next stop was Mahogany Bay Honduras. We took the Maya Key excursion offered by the ship. We had a WONDERFUL time. It had a lovely pool, beach, and animal sanctuary. It was far less crowded then Carnival's Mahogany Bay Beach. Just be sure to bring insect repellent as there were sand fleas. We did also hear that sand fleas were an issue on Mahogany Bay Beach. The beach at Maya Key did have some moss, but it was nice. The lunch they served was only fair. It was very tranquil and off the mainland. We enjoyed it a lot
