This was my first Carnival cruise in about 20 years. I waited so long because I was not especially thrilled with the line the first time but wanted to try again since so many seem to enjoy it. I was not expecting much from a 5-day cruise and I pretty much got what I expected.

Embarkation was smooth and not too time consuming. Our cabin was ready when we boarded and it was fine - not too small, pretty good storage except in the bathroom which was very inadequate. The flat screen TV was nice and the beds very comfortable - nice quality linens. The towels were fantastic - very soft and large. The overall decor of the room was very dated, not surprising for an old ship. Overall the ship was very clean but very dated, with plastic palms trees and coconuts and way too much neon and sparkle. Typical for what I'd heard about Carnival ships.

Service, however was excellent. Our cabin steward was efficient and friendly and always remembered to leave ice once we'd asked for it. He did great towel animals too. Service in the dining room was also excellent. We chose any time dining and I thought it worked very well - we never had to wait for a table and enjoyed all our waiters very much. Food was just average - nothing special and very bland - catering to the meat & potatoes gang. Guest services staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall I give them an A for service levels.
